1830 TIME TO TALK - a 13 part series about politics, society and
governance in today's Pacific. "Program Three: Independence and
Nation-Building". In most Pacific countries, the framework of
independence was laid down by the colonial powers as they lowered their
flags of empire in the 1960s and 1970s. But did the parliamentary
institutions established at independence reflect the aspirations of the
people in the new states? [T;%]

of Things?"

Hamblyn explains how Luke Howard, an amateur meteorologist, forged the
language of the skies. In December 1802, at a public meeting in London,
Howard gave a scientific paper 'On the modifications of clouds' in which
he classified clouds and gave them the Latin names by which they are
known all over the world today. Novelist Delia Falconer, the author of
'The Service of Clouds', has been reading Hamblyn's book, and she
explains why, to the scientists and artists of the Romantic Age,
Howard's classification was a glorious revelation of the language of the
skies.
2320 SHORT STORY - The best of classic and contemporary short fiction
from Australian and world writers.
2330 THE SPORTS FACTOR - "TV Sport: Reality Bites". The bubble has
burst on the ever-increasing prices being paid for sports broadcast

reality TV series based around a 2nd division western suburbs Aussie
Rules footy team. [T;%]
