Years ago, when I worked to get asian women out of the sex trade and into
better lives, I met Mari. She was a very bad case, abused from childhood,
addicted to drugs by her early teens, and selling herself on the streets when
she should have been working hard to achieve a career and set goals for a good
job and a future family. We managed to get her off the streets and into a
place where she was able to work out her situation and get some proper
schooling and work training. But to my dismay, I found out that Mari had
contracted HIV while in her prostitute days, and today it finally took her.
All morning, I have been crying my eyes out and shouting at God for allowing
such a lousy
thing to happen to such an innocent person. I then felt compelled to share
this with you
in order to ask all of you something. If there is anything you can do to help
asian women
in the Pacific Rim, then do so. Join an organization that works for the
betterment of their
lives. Or a group that stands up for the civil rights of asian women (and yes,
men). Write
letters defending the rights of asian political prisoners. Don't just
pontificate views on a newsgroup and feel that you are making things better for
your fellow asians. Politics is nothing, action is everything.
And finally, I realize that I have made some tongue-in-cheek, made in jest
comments pertaining
to asian women. I always meant them in a gag response to some of the
high-headed pontificating
of some of the asian men who have posted some strange views on the subject.
But now, none of
it seems funny, and I will no longer do such things. If I have ever offended
anyone on this
group, then I am sorry. And no more drug humor either. Now if you will excuse
me, I need to
go out and take a walk. And please remember Mari in prayer today, if you all
would, even if
you are an atheist. Good thoughts will count, too.
sincerely
steven
Dear Robohen,
I just got back and read your post.
I think that it is good of you if you feel compelled to do what you
have suggested. If helping out white women is what you wish to do,
then by all means do so. If you live in a large city, then check out
the nearest United Way agency, or Union Gospel Mission, or Rape Crisis
Center. Volunteers are always needed there.
I am not sure what you mean by Atlantic Rim completely, but
if you are in Europe, then I am sure that there are things that you
can do over where you are now. Just get involved, and help out your
fellow men and women.
take care, Robohen.

ps.--- I have a friend in Amsterdam who runs a Christian mission that
helps women get out of prostitution there. If you are there, I could
give you a contact number.

May God bless her soul.....
and may the researchers find the cure to this deadly
disease fast.....
a moment of silence for the respect to the deceased...
PS
I wonder can anything occur in this world without it
evolving into a race issue..... from OJ's criminal
and civil trials to this.......
someone close to one of the members passed away from
HIV today, let her rest in peace....
don't insult her soul by making this another racially
charged issues.....
but to answer you question, if you can help someone,
good for you... it should not matter if the person you
helped is Caucasian, Asian or any other races.....
if anyone out there is not interested in this thread, let
it rest in peace... don't insult a deceased person....
now, go find racial issues in other threads and leave
the person's memory alone.....

Dear Peter,
Once again, the kindness and goodness of your soul comes through.
You are a very good man, and for that I thank you. Your respect
is genuine, and from the heart.
Take care, and I will write more soon.
