For those of you who are interested in finding out the person behind the
voice of "Theo" on Los Angeles radio station KKBT "The Beat" you can
catch him doing a cameo role as an obsessive fan in the new Shanice music
video called "I Wish."

There's also an article on him in the premiere issue of Yolk magazine. Pretty
deep, guy's got a lot of personal baggage he's gotta work through.

Yeah, I know about the article. Knew about it a few months before Yolk
even came out because I'm friends with the publisher. But anyway, I
figured more people would probably see the video than to read Yolk
Magazine since Yolk is still very limited in distribution and such.
Plus, you actually can hear Theo and what he sort of sounds like on the
air in the music video for Shanice since he's the radio DJ voice at the
beginning of the video.

As far as Theo having a lot of personal baggage, he always
has been a complex person (albeit a bit on the insecure side). I was
friends with Theo in college while we were both taking broadcasting
courses here in San Francisco back in the 80's.

He was also in Janet Jackson's "If" music video when he was still at KMEL
in San Francisco.

Actually, Theo is NOT in the Janet Jackson "If" video. It was a rumor
which started because the guy in the video looked similar to Theo (the
guy actually IN the video is NOT Theo). The rumor got so widespread
here in San Francisco that Theo actually started telling people over
the air that it was indeed him in the video. The fact of the matter
is that it isn't even close to being him.

Believe me, I know Theo personally and the guy in JJ's video is
definitely not Theo - though close enough for some people who don't
really know Theo to think it might be him. I believe the actual name
of the guy in the JJ "If" video that people were confusing for Theo is
Michael Gong.

Hmmm... is this guy the same DJ who used to play for SF based radio station,
106.1 KMEL???

I seem to remember a Japanese sounding DJ with the name of Theo before on
the radio... anyone from the SF Bay area know?

Yup...Theo Mizuhara is the same guy who was on 106.1 KMEL...

Theo came down to Los Angeles to DJ for 92.3 KKBT (the Beat), two years ago,
if I'm not mistaken...I was pleasantly surprised to see him on here, and I
think he's become on of the more popular DJs on that station...

Hey Efren...actually, Theo went down to KKBT in October 1993 so he's been
there for about a year and half now. But he's only been doing afternoon
drive for about a year now or so. He originally started at KKBT doing
overnights.

Word has it that Theo is very near to becoming the #1 DJ in his time slot
in the Los Angeles area. That's his goal.

21 years of cyber dust blown off of this one, the "holy grail" of all revived threads on all of the interwebs!! Stumbled accross this while remembering and looking for info on Theo. Theo was my favorite DJ on 92.3FM TheBeat Los Angeles bitd (93~96?). I'm a male and enjoyed his nightly show the most with all the "on-air" calls he would get from female listeners, pure radio entertainment. I always got a good laugh during his shows with his "game", advice, and settle clowning. I always got the sense dude was geniunely kind with no ego and I liked that. Good days in Los Angeles radio for sure.

Just watched "Gas" (2004) and Theo made an appearance as himself. Looks like that's the latest anyone's seen him. He's the most mysterious dude in radio, nobody's heard or seen him for a while and he doesn't even have a Wikipedia page. Wild.

He was also on Moesha, in the episode "Chain, Chain, Chain," where he played himself.

He appears in the music video for 2Pac's song "All About U" in the intro, again as himself, calling Pierre Edwards to inform him that 2Pac is late for a function and that he's sent a limo.

Apparently, Theo is the narrator for the film "Waiting to Exhale" starring Michael Beach and Angela Bassett.

He's paradoxically well-known in Cali but also unknown. It's weird.
