Since I have yet to see any useful posts coming from the anonymous server
in these soc.* groups, why not just put "anon.penet.fi" in your kill

Depends on the "Asian chick". You can't generalize on people like that
- the question's stupid. (Yeah yeah, I see the smiley.) It's just
that this thread _ignores_ Asian women as individual people; we've been
turned into this formless mass that thinks alike and acts alike and all
these males are debating what we think. Geez. Some "asian chicks" like
white males, some like Asian males, some like Asian women (that's me.)

I mean, do I go around asking "What do Asian dudes want?" No, 'cause
it's a weird question, acting like there's some actual _answer_.
Whereas I'm sure everyone's got their own personal tastes and
preferences,of which even _those_are hard to clarify.

I have sent e-mail to ad...@anon.penet.fi, and it assigned me an ID to use! In
the subsequent exchange, Jult (the name of the admin) sent the server policy to
me in which he stated that abuse of his service may force him to close down.

If an8455 posts again, I do intend to send Jult 100 copies of the post. In
other words, if Jult can not regulate his users, he might as well shut it down
as he has promised.

There is a need for anon service as long as there exist political (and social)
persecution in the world, so I also urge some tolerance for occasional abuses.

If you're offended, *do* drop an email to ad...@anon.penet.fi. Let
them know what you think, what the problem is. Please *don't* mailbomb
the sysadmin. They're reasonable people trying to be reasonable in
offering a potentially valuable service. Be reasonable with them.
They are trying to determine a fair and objective policy.

Of course, a couple thousand reasonable people sending reasonable
email to them for each obnoxious anonymous posting here should get
the message across pretty quickly. :-)

Why is it that homosexuals and lesbians have this insatiable urge
to 'out' themselves in public? But then I wouldn't mind hopping
in bed with a pair of bisexual asian women.

Rikiya, do seriously think that because you dad pays all kinds of
money for you to go to school, that that makes you more intelligent or makes
your posts more pertinent? Why do you feel this need to boast about how rich
your family is? I don't post from an anon account either, and I don't get a
cent from my parents. I am putting myself through school, and I resent your
implication that those of us who don't have lots of money are somehow less
intelligent than you are. It's not the name of the school you go to that
matters, it's what you DO there.

*personal peeve mode on*

Personally, to reveal one of my private prejudices, it really peeves
me to have people who just sit back and let their parents pay for everything
assume that they are somehow more knowledgeable about everything because of
their status. What if your parents weren't there? What would you do then?
Have you even thought about it? And always going around insinuating that
you are so mature too...

Again, you ask that which I never get to answer. First of all, I would
be grateful if you could show me anywhere where I said or gave the
impression that I was more intelligent than other just because I go to
CMU. I will, however, answer your imaginations. I think that my father
pays for my education because he loves me. I also feel that you are a
fool because you don't know my family's fanancial situation. So, like
many Americans, you developed the unly face of discrimmination by
ascerting that my parent in rich. But, I don't think that it is
appropriate for me to talk about my money. I will tell you that my
family is proud of my accomplishments. I am too! So, would you take as
"braging", I take as you own fanancial insecurity. I wish you luck!
Another point that you brought up is the imagination that waht I would
do if my parent was not here to pays for this.

As, most of you know, last year my mother committed suicide. So, I live
very close to what you speak. if my father were not here, I would miss
him very much and I would go about with the thought that he would want
me to make something out of my life. So, as you can see I am in perfect
control! But, let's leave the imaginary and deal with reality. I am glad
that I have one parent left. My mother died as I was about to start my
first year in grad school. This took a heavy toll on my sanity. But, I
continued to do my best and I am happy for this.

Mom if you can read this I hope that you are also proud of me.

Ms. Covington, I think that you should try to go to another country and
in a different language enter college and succeed. Let's say Kenya! As
you can see deep down in your soul, you are not as flexible as I am. So,
I suggest for you to think.

Well, Rikiya, in the post to which I was replying, you made
several slurs at Mr. Mauritz to the effect that his children would be too
"stooopid" to get into CMU. Several times in the past, both this year
and last year, you have put down other netters by making snide remarks that
they don't go to CMU like you do, and that therefore you don't give their
opinions much merit. I feel bad now that I didn't archive the articles. I'll
save this one in case you later feel like misquoting yourself. ^_^

>I will, however, answer your imaginations. I think that my father

Well, my parents love me too Rikiya, and I suppose they are proud
of me, though it's not the sort of thing I generally bring up in public..
but they happen to feel that I will learn more by surviving by myself. They
do not feel it is their responsibility to pay for my schooling. No one paid
for theirs, either. I guess they just have a different view.
Personally, I am glad that my parents are not financing my life. I
feel a tremendous sense of liberation that they are not. It's my life,
and my finances, so it encourages me to think twice about my decisions..
but they are my decisions, with no debts hanging over my head. Maybe we
just have different views on the matter.

What on earth do you mean? It was you who started the whole thing
about bragging that it costs $96,000 a year for you to attend school, and
that your parents paid for it. Sure sounds like you are talking money to
ME. All I know is, neither I nor my parents have anything close to that
kind of money. I am not saying that having money or not makes you a better
person, but I did think it rather tasteless that you brought it up in
that sort of manner in your post to Mr. Mauritz.
I am not discriminating against your financial situation. I do,
however, feel disgusted at the manner in which you seem to feel a need to
mention what school you go to all the time, explicitly mentioning that
you feel others of us couldn't get in there, and mentioning the tuition.
Sounds to me like a case of insecurity.

>I will tell you that my
>family is proud of my accomplishments. I am too! So, would you take as
>"braging", I take as you own fanancial insecurity. I wish you luck!

I'm happy for you then, I really am. Please, though, don't think
that I am financially insecure. I don't have nearly as much money as you
have, maybe, but I'm getting by, and on my own, and I don't feel any sort
of need to be pitied, by anyone. I'm quite satisfied with my station in
life at the moment. (s.c.j reference: No, that DOESN'T mean I am going
to start sending anyone money so they can get onto NiftyServe. ^_^)

Well, I am truly happy for you, and I suppose I made a rather
petty remark in my last post. Sorry to take it out on you, but I do get
rather peeved with people either (1) walking around feeling sorry for me,
or (2) coming around complaining how bad off they have life because they
cannot afford to buy the latest CD coming out every week, or (3) acting as
if having money to attend private schools automatically makes them more
intelligent. You sounded like a member of number (3) in the state of mind
I was in last week. Sorry.

>in a different language enter college and succeed. Let's say Kenya! As

I suggest for YOU to think, Rikiya. What exactly do you know about my
history or how flexible I am? I think it is something that cannot really
be compared, but if you want to get into that I can say "well, Rikiya,
try going to said foreign country and learning how to read in only a year
when you are only 11 years old". See how pointless that can get? My main
point is, you cannot see down into my soul, and you cannot know the things
that I've experienced any more that I can judge you. Maybe I can say,
"hey Rikiya, try to get kicked out on the street in a foreign country at
10:30 PM in the rain with no money and see if you succeed". But, it's silly,
so let's not.

Sorry if I offended you by accident in my last posting. But remember,
it's not the school you go to, it's WHAT YOU DO THERE that makes the
difference. If you post a good and thoughtful rebuttal, you should have no
need to go around purposely mentioning your school all the time, because
quite frankly it doesn't matter whether you are a grad student or not,
or that you go to CMU or not.. all that matters is the content of your
posts, and that is what I am peeved at. ^_^

Maiko Covington

now I can't =^( )
