There are lot of Actors and Actresses that don't mention their ethnic mixes
probably because it's embarrassing for them to be seen as "mutts". Also, it
could be because of the advise they get from their Publicists on what to say
to the general public, which 75% of the time would most likely be on topics
that have nothing to do with their ethnicity. Though, I do applaud those who
take the time to mention it as an aside and to those interviewers who bother
to ask the question.
I'll bet if fans asked for more info on their heritages, then we wouldn't be
in the dark most of the time. Instead, fans usually inquire about their sex
lifes, what's your favorite color and other stupid shit only kids want to
know.
And, how do you know this?
All I know is that he has a thing for gerbils and making crappy movies
with Julia Roberts.
Or, are you just trolling again, DICE?
Richard Lee
1) That doesn't mean he has a "thing" for anyone. He was with Cindy
Crawford for a long time...doesn't mean he has a "thing" for women with
moles on their cheeks.
2) If that's such common knowledge, how come I didn't know it? Maybe your
source is faulty.
3) If it was anyone, it was Bai Ling, his co-star in _Red Corner_ who is
currently with Chris Isaak.
4) Btw, it's also "common knowledge to anybody with even a passing
interest in entertainment news" that Gere is a homosexual.

I assume this is sarcasm?

Actually, it's not the first Asian woman he's dated. From what I've
read, he has had several over the years. And how do you know he
doesn't have a "thing" for moles? He just might, you have no clue.

Read the post, it says anybody who follows entertainment news, which
I know for a fact you don't.

Just because he made a movie with Bai Liang doesn't mean it was her
he dated. He also starred in a film with Bruce Willis, but that doesn't
mean he dated him or shared girbels with him.

Only an idiot would believe that stupid, silly rumor that originated in
a tabloid newspaper (Star?), only later to be withdrawn under
threat of legal action. The story was removed, it affects live on...
Maybe the Chinese communist government started it.

Actually, I do, and I follow entertainment news quite closely. This is as
opposed to those people (like, say, you?) who might only follow what they
see on Entertainment Tonight or read in GQ. So, again, your "knowledge"
based on non-existent facts rings faulty.

So, in that case, could you please name these women? I thought that
"anyone who followed entertainment news" would know this type of common
knowledge. Or, maybe you are just wrong and jumped to conclusions based
on nothing more than your own projections.

Kind of like the gerbils, huh?

No.
Btw, the above also applies to Kevin Spacey.

Everyone says Richard Gere is gay, but they are probably wrong. Kind of
like with Keanu Reeves, whom everyone used to say was gay, but he isn't
(especially with Carrie-Ann Moss on his arm).
Kevin Spacey really is very gay, though.
Richard Lee
That's not true.... like I said, I read this in numerous reputable
magazines. Also,
and more importantly, I know friends of mine who work in Manhattan who
have seen Gere with various AF babes at local bars and restaurants. And,
he was *all* over them, according to my friends, who have no reason to
make it up.

What's wrong with either of those two media sources? I've never heard
anybody claim that either was a "faulty" source of entertainment news.
But actually, neither were my source.

You don't have to know their names to identify their ethnicity.

Name them. Name the women, too. The thing is, anyone could say, "hey, I
heard this somewhere from someone...not sure where or from whom, but I
think it was credible." It goes a lot longer ways to actually state the
particulars.
I'm not saying you are wrong. What I'm saying is that no one can really
be sure based on vagaries.

I've heard stories, too, but they've involved men with Gere. I'm serious.
And, my friends had no reason to make it up.

No, but he attempted to pick up a friend of mine in an L.A. club.

Actually, and I don't know whether this validates it or not, but
Gere played a small role in an Akira Kurosawa film made around '94-'95
as a half-Japanese, American-born relative of a family who lived in the
rural outskirts of Nagasaki; the film took place in the modern day and
dealt with how different generations of the family were affected by the
atomic bomb.
To summarize, two pairs of cousins stay with their grandmother while
their parents vacation in Hawaii. They learn about their grandmother's
a-bomb experiences. Gere's character visits from Hawaii on an emergency
visit.
I did see the movie, I honestly forgot the title, but it was a Japanese
film and yes, Gere's lines were in Japanese.

I don't even consider these people asians. They seemed to want to
I remember that movie. Wasn't it "Rhapsody in August" or the Kurosawa
movie that came out just b4 or after "Rhapsody?"
I just remember that it was boring and it sucked.

Don't recall their names and don't have the motivation to look it up.
Probably something like Susie Wong, and Jenny Lu, but I don't
remember...

Since this is a newsgroup, and not a court of law, I feel confortable in
basing
my assertions on my friends stories and my media sources. Who knows,
perhaps he is Bi.

Interesting. Say, what sex were the gerbils anyway? Were they asian
gerbils?
