Bring honour to the nation through sports
In its drive to build a peaceful, modern and developed nation, the
Government has been implementing 12 political, economic and social
objectives. It has placed emphasis on promotion of the nation's sports
standard realizing one of the four social objectives — Uplift of
health, fitness and education standards of the entire nation.
In the process, the Government not only organizes national level
sports events at home but also sends national sports contingents to
international sports events. Furthermore, Myanmar hosts international
level sports events in the nation with the sponsorship of the
Government.
The Government's assistance and encouragement to sports movements is
aimed at enhancing friendly relations between the Myanmar Sports
Federations and international sports federations, and Myanmar and
other nations through sports movements as well as enabling national
sports athletes to be equipped with the spirit to elevate the nation's
role. National wellwishers and citizens, on their part, are making
contributions to achieve success in sports.
In this regard, sports athletes, managers and coaches are to make
efforts with added momentum to enhance dignity of the nation,
realizing that such assistance of the State, contributions of
wellwishers and participation of the public indicate that the entire
national people have been making combined endeavours so as to raise
the sports standard of the nation.
Myanmar takes part in international sports events and so respective
officials in the sports field are to constantly make reviews of all
the strengths and weaknesses by keeping in close touch with the
athletes.
Myanmar women soccer team won the trophy in the first ASEAN Women's
Soccer Tournament held from 29 September to 9 October in the Socialist
Republic of Vietnam.
The Finance and Revenue team also emerged champion in the 110th
Invitational Football Match of India Football Federation (East Bengal)
held from 30 September to 10 October in India.
Besides, Myanmar bagged eight gold, six silver and two bronze in the
fifth South East Asia Canoe Race held from 27 September to 4 October
in the Philippines. The national sports teams' brilliant performances
brought honours to the motherland.
Therefore, responsible personnel and athletes are urged to take a more
active role in order to achieve greater success in international
sports events and producing brilliant athletes who can bring honour to
the nation through sports.
