NYPD officials said the man, identified by family members as Delron
(Smalls) Dempsey, 37, got out of his 2016 Kia EX and approached the
cop, who was still sitting in his 2002 Nissan Altima, while the two
were stopped at a red light. Dempsey repeatedly pummeled the cop in the
head through the car’s window, and the officer fired his gun during the
assault, killing the father of three at around 12:06 a.m, police said.
