Fast Facts on the Two-Decade Red State Murder Problem
In March of 2022, we released a report that found murder rates in 2020
were 40% higher in Trump-voting states than Biden-voting states. In our
follow-up report, we studied homicide data going back to 2000 to see if
this one-year Red State murder epidemic was an anomaly. It was not.
Despite a media narrative to the contrary, a wide and widening Red State
murder gap has spanned the past two decades.

This fact sheet highlights some of the most illuminating takeaways from
our analysis.

The Two-Decade Red State Murder Problem
The murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Donald Trump has exceeded
the murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Joe Biden in every year
from 2000 to 2020. For the past 21 years, the top 10 murder rate states
have been dominated by reliably red states, namely Louisiana, Mississippi,
Alabama, and Missouri. From 2000-2020, the per capita Red State murder
rate was 23% higher than the Blue State murder rate. If Biden states had
the same murder rate as Trump states, they would have seen 5,000 more
murders in 2020 alone. Between 2000 and 2020, they would have suffered an
additional 45,400 murders. Between 2000 and 2020, the Red State murder gap
has steadily widened from a low of 9% more per capita red state murders in
2003 and 2004 to 44% more per capita red state murders in 2019, before
settling back to 43% in 2020. Since 2000, murder rates have increased
39.4% in red states and just 13.4% in blue states. Even when murders in
the largest cities in red states are removed, overall murder rates in
Trump-voting states were 12% higher than Biden-voting states across this
21-year period and were higher in 18 of the 21 years observed. Source:

What does the voting color of a state have to do with the frequency of
murders?? It is the individuals of a state that do the killing, and if
you check further, you will discover that the murder rate of blacks is 9
times or more than that of whites. Meanwhile, many blacks want a
continuation of affirmative action, and reparations. Do you think that
a president saying to them that they are victims of "Systemic Racism"
rather than pointing to successful blacks and encouraging them might
have something to do with this fact??

Behavior like that of the president mentioned above makes it
understandable as to why his son turned out as he did. A responsible
leader or father would have given those unsuccessful a dose of reality
long ago. Not cover or make excuses for their failures.

The worst counties for gun violence in Florida are not Hillsborough (Tampa) or
Miami-Dade (Miami). In fact, those two counties have among the *lowest* gun
violence rates in the state.

With the exception of New Mexico, all of the highest gun violence rates shown in
this map are shithole red states, and New Mexico is, except for Santa Fe,
culturally red.

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Two teen suspects have been charged with capital
murder in a Grand Prairie teen’s shooting death.

Police say 18-year-old Simon Nguyen met with Nathan Nix and Nakarius Hall,
both 19, Thursday night in the 1000 block of Coffeyville Trail.

Police say the teens were "engaged in possible high-risk activity" when an
argument happened, and Nguyen was shot. He was taken to the hospital by
friends, where he later died.

It’s unclear who pulled the trigger.

Nix was arrested Friday. Hall was arrested Saturday.

Both are being held at the Grand Prairie Denton Center on a capital murder
charge.

DENTON, Texas - Denton police are investigating a fatal shooting that
happened in a high school parking lot early Sunday morning.

The shooting was outside Fred Moore High School on Cross Timbers Street.

Police said they got multiple calls around 2:30 a.m. about shots fired in
the school’s parking lot.

When officers got there, they found two adult gunshot victims who were
taken to local hospitals.

One of the victims, a 30-year-old male, did not survive.

The second victim, a 26-year-old male, is still hospitalized with life-
threatening injuries.

Police are still trying to determine a motive. They’re looking for tips to
determine what led up to the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Denton County Crime Stoppers
at 1-800-388-TIPS.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- At least three people are dead and 12 others are injured
following weekend shootings across the city of Chicago as of Saturday
evening. The ages of the victims range from 15 to 72.

In the first shooting of the weekend a 23-year-old man was shot in the
face. It happened near the alley in the 4100 block of South Archer around
7:30 p.m. Friday. The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital and
initially reported in critical condition.

Then Saturday afternoon a 24-year-old man was shot and killed in the 3400
block of South 24th Street. Police say he was near the sidewalk around
4:42 p.m. when he was shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at Mount
Sinai.

Around that same time two people were shot at a funeral home in Gage Park.
Police were questioning two people Saturday evening. It happened just
before 5 p.m. at Emmanuel's Chapel.

Police say a 32-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman were shot. The man
was struck in the arm and was transported to the Mount Sinai Hospital. He
was initially reported in fair condition. The woman was struck in the leg,
arm and side and walk transported to the University of Chicago Medical
Center. She was initially reported in good condition.

Also on Saturday afternoon a security guard was left in critical condition
after a shooting near the CTA Red Line. According to the Chicago Police
Department, the victim, whose age is not known, was in the 0-100 block of
West 79th Street around 4:25 p.m. Saturday when a male shot him in the
neck and then fled from the scene.

The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in
critical condition. It was not immediately clear where the security guard
is employed. Responding officers took a suspect into custody in an alley
in the 7900 block of South Michigan Avenue.

Charges were pending Saturday night.
