Why do blacks think that they are desecendants of Ancient Egyptians?

There is a grasping out by black "leaders" to find a
viable identity for their people. While I can understand their struggle I
think that it is both stupid and non-productive to try and steal an identity
of another people. The majority of blacks think that they are descendants of
the ancient Egyptians or that the Egyptians were a completely black or
negroid race. If one looks at ancient Egyptian art you will notice that the
Egyptians portrayed do not look like present day negroids/blacks but look
much closer to the Meditteranean stock. In essence the Egyptians were/are a
Meditteranean people with a small minority of outright black looking people
but given the geography this is to be expected. Furthermore the only "black"
looking people in Egyptian art are the servants, which for the most part
were Nubians. Somehow the modern day black leaders seem to get confused on
this and think that these Nubians were the Egyptians. Also, If you ask
Egyptians if they are black they get highly offended, they don't like blacks
in the U.S. putting a label on their nation or trying to steal their history

having anything to do with Egyptian grandeur, ancient or modern and look
much closer to your roots i.e. in The Congo, Zimbabwe, Tanzania etc.. North
Africa is/was overwhelmingly Mediterreanean.

Then why did a black Egyptian who came to the US, applied for a job, and was
told that saying he was Egyptian was the same as being European. This was all
over the news. He sued and wanted to be identified as black. BTW, he won!
Egypt is

First of all,most of the Bible is a piece of very good Israelite PR (one
of the earliest examples) , covering up their beating up on weaker
tribes and taking their land away. Sort of like the bullshit history
they taught us up to the 60s.Its funny,but THAT was the revisionist
history of the conquering Europeans.The victor writes the history,until
recently,that is. Now..its a bit more like history than PR stuff.

paintings ,you will see that they were as aware of skin color as we
are(perhaps obsessed).The different races and skin colors are accurately
represented in these paintings. The Sub-Saharan blacks are shown as
they look like even today.The Egyptians show themselves as light to dark
red colored people.There was a period of about 400 years when the
Nubians did overwhelm and conquer the Egyptians,but after 40 years of
black rule the Nubian monarchs of Egypt did a funny thing. They closed
the borders to the south to prevent wholesale immigration of their own
countrymen into Egypt.Sort of like Mexican Americans supporting
anti-immigration legislation,which the majority of them do.

SLAVE SOCIETY. Egyptian slavery begot AMERICAN slavery, if one traces
it through history. Lots of American Blacks idolize Egypt, but it was a
hellish totalitarian civilization whose monuments were built with
misery and exploitation. Ancient Egypt makes the American plantation
life look like a vacation in comparison.

As a Greek myself, just by reading his words I don't need him to prove he's partly

with the Haratin of the northern Sahara. Paoli mentions the theory of
Cabot-Briggs (Cabot-Briggs, L. (1958), _The Living Races of the Sahara Desert,
Massachussets) that this resemblance might indicate the origin of the Haratin.

The Haratin are considered a mixture of the "aboriginal black population"
of North Africa and freed slaves mostly from the South. Of particular

The Haratin were found to have the closest blood typology to the Dynastic
Egyptians (see above)

King Taharqa was a Black Nubian who ruled all of Egypt and Nubia. He ruled
Egypt over 2500 years ago. (Nubians were black like Ethiopians). Nefertem
Khu Re Taharqa, of the 25th Dynastic Period, was the nephew of Shabaka. He

and Thebes, especially at the Temple of Amun at Karnak. He
also rebuilt or erected anew temples and shrines throughout Nubia. He was
a very capable ruler, often the model of an Egyptian pharaoh, and some
archaeologists would argue that he led Egypt through its last stage of

DETROIT (CNN) -- An Egyptian immigrant is suing the U.S. government
because they've told him he's white when his entire life he's been black.
Mostafa Hefny was born in Egypt and has always been proud of his Egyptian
culture and his African ancestry. But when Hefny immigrated to America,
the U.S. government told him he was no longer a black man.
"I was not told by Immigration that I was white until I passed the exam
for citizenship and then I was told I am now white," he explains.
Hefny initially laughed when told of his new racial classification, but
he's no longer chuckling. He recently filed suit against the U.S.
government to get his race classification changed back from white to
black.
"It hurts me. It definitely hurts me," Hefny says. "It hurts me because I
am unable to reconcile my reality as a black person."
In addition to the emotional hurt, Hefny says that when the government
changed his race, they also changed his social status.
"Definitely, I would've had more opportunity for advancement and even for
hiring had I been considered black," he says. "I was prevented from
applying and requesting positions and other benefits for minority person
because I knew I was legally white."
Origin determines race
One of the problems with the naturalization process, in Hefny's opinion,
is that race is classified by geographic location and not ancestry. That's
part of the immigration process his lawsuit hopes to change. The lawsuit
targets Directive Number 15 of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget.
The directive defines black as a person having origins in any of the black
racial groups of Africa. A white person is defined as having origins in
any of the original peoples of Europe, North Africa or the Middle East.
"In the late '60s and early '70s, they found that different agencies were
using different definitions for the same categories of people, and they
thought it was
important to have comprehensibility across federal agencies," explains
Sally Katzen of the OMB.
The OMB is hoping to change the way they define races by revamping the
troublesome directive.
"The principle we thought very important is self-identification," Katzen
says. "I think that it is almost beyond dispute that an individual should
identify himself or herself rather than have someone else do it."
Although it seems the government agrees with Hefny in principle, it
refuses to respond publicly to his lawsuit. He expects that response later
this year.

Count C. Volney, a distinguished French scholar who visited Egypt in the
late 1700s, wrote with astonishment "...when I visied the Sphinx, its
appearance gave me the key to the riddle. Beholding that head typically
Negro in all its features..." He later added "...the Egyptians were true
Negroes of the same type as all native-born Africans." The Sphinx's broad
nose and full lips are evident in an early drawing of the Sphinx as it was
found in the 19th century.

his work History of Ancient Civilization that "the first civilized
inhabitants of the Nile and Tigris-Euphrates Valleys were a dark-skinned

Herodotus, known as the father of history in European circles, provides
testimony about the Egyptians, confirming that most of them were African
or black.
Europe's first historian, Herodotus said "the Egyptians, Colchians, and

A people of white heritage who supposedly after creating nothing in
their own land (europe and further north) supposedly came into Kemet and
created this wonderful civilization and then disappeared never to be
heard from again and left no likenesses of themselves in the art found
in that place!
This myth was created by inferior minded men who realized that as a
people, they owe their whole civilization (government,
sciences,religion, agriculture ect.) to the black people of Africa, whom
they later enslaved. This was partially motivated by prejudice but
mostly by the fact that for the first 6000 yrs of human history,
Europeans spent this time in caves, living as animals do. This is the
cave-man we are all used to seeing. Meanwhile Africans of Kemet had
developed a government and excelled in the sciences which they intuited
(learned from within). They knew the circumference of the earth even
then! (this can be found looking at the measurements of the great
pyramids)
Now an explanation of why I refer to egypt as Kemet. Egypt was a name
given to the africans by the greeks. It comes from the greek word
"Aigyptos" which was their take on the african word "hekaptah" (the land
of the temple of ptah). African called their land Kemet which literally
means "land of the blacks". They called themselves the Kamau or "black
people".
I guess if you were brought up thinking you are superior to all other
"races", this myth of a white people in Africa would sound so good that
even after information pours in proving it to be false, one with this
mind set would deny it and call it a lie!
Once we as africans remove the lies put there by white people (white man
speaks with forked toungue) the REAL truth becomes clear.

There was much more to the post than just Negroes living in the Sahara,
the point was made to show that Negroes are not just associated with
Sub-Sahara Africa. They have been there for tens of thousands of years,
unlike the whites of South Africa. As usual someone missed the point.

Yes, there were Nubians involved in the day to day culture of the
Egyptions. (Mostly, as slaves captured through warfare) in the early
kingdom, though there were also merchants etc. that were vital to
international trade. This is true of any early culture.

I'll be the first to admit that there were _once_ great
civilizations in northwest, non-semetic Africa--The biblical
Cush--Ethiopia/Abysinia comes to mind, as does Nubia/Sheba.. King
Soloman was certainly a "black man" by American standards, The
decision is out on David, the "Lion of Judah", who the Ethiopians
cling to.!

To put things into perspective, I'm an European-American of Swiss
heritage--No slavery in Die Schweiz--ever. Should I, through my
Germanic heritage, proclaim my woman a "Roman Princess". Hardly, it is
not my culture. A German is not an Italian anymore than an Angolan is
an Egyption.
So, Where is your African pride?
As a "Guinea Man" or Angolan of the black diaspora, you should be
reclaiming your heritage!. Instead, you debate such stupid base
questions as whether or not Egyptian civilaztion was white or black. .
How about entering in to evidence, that there was an advanced

of Thebes in southern Egypt was threatened by northerners, and the
Egyptians called upon the Nubian king for protection. The Kushite king,
Piye, marched north from his capital at Napata,rescued Thebes and
reunified Egypt. For the next 100 years, Kushite kings ruled both Nubia

Egypt over 2500 years ago. He was a prolific builder in Memphis and
Thebes, especially at the Temple of Amun at Karnak. He was a very capable

would argue that he led Egypt through its last stage of outstanding and
independent cultural success.

That the Songhay askiyas were able to build a professional bureaucracy

time to any other such center in the world. Young people from the Moslem
world came to Timbuktu's world famous University of Sankore to study Law
and Medicine. Even medieval Europe sent its best scholars to the

astronomers, physicians, and jurists whose intellectual endeavors were

First of all,all of the Homo sapiens around today,we all came out of
Africa,so essentially,all civilization is African.Second,all modern
Africans(going back 5000 years),are probably the newest version of the
Homo genus,the newest model so to speak,but these rednecks put them down
for having coming at the tail end of the population of the planet,every
square inch of land being taken,city states blocking their natural
migrating routes out of Africa,routes that every
race,white,Asian,Amerindian,found open to them and only in the last
5-6000 years has been closed.
3rd,and this one is the most important.....why do these hapless hayseeds
insist on claiming some kinship with those that built the great
civilizations of Europe and the Middle East?
Many of these redneck slobs only connection with civilization is MAYBE
one of their ancestors was a lowly serf toiling for a medeval Baron or
something.Take a look at their posts...they STILL are serfs.
