That's what's needed in Afganistan. You want an invasion? Drive a million
head of sheep through Pakistan and into the valleys of Afganistan. Sheep
killed by landmines can be eaten immediately to ward off starvation. The
rest can be used to rebuild the war-torn economy.
Peaceful herdsmen tending their flocks. Dutiful wives knitting fine
sweaters to warm the world on frosty nights. Happy children with full
bellies and warm clothes on their back. Isn't that how it should be? Don't
they deserve that chance?
Goats are needed too. Meat for the table, milk for the young. These are
simple people with simple needs. Give them enough livestock to rebuild
their herds, then buy their rugs and knittings so they can afford basic
necessities like medicine and tools. Give them a place to start, a chance
to rebuild. Then watch them prosper!
Farmers of New Zealand, Australia, Britian, Canada, USA, France, Italy,
Argentina, Chile, the World! Help bring peace to Afganistan! Lobby your
governments to SEND SHEEP NOW!
If we can afford $200 Billion to prop up the world banking system, surely
we can come up with a few million sheep for Afganistan?
It's not like there aren't enough sheep in the world.

Sigh.... I'm trying so hard to be positive through all of this, but deep
down I know you're right. Saw those Taliban guys on TV this afternoon. It
really does look hopeless.

Disease and insect resistant crops can do even more for poor countries than
better chickens.
In dark moments engineers wonder if they don't put more people out of work
than benefit and if they are solving the right problems. Too many times we
build giant projects when we should be giving the village black smith a
Sears farm machinery catalog from 1900 for ideas.
If we are going to tinker in Afghanistan we best come bearing lots of food
for the players we want to be on our side and the one we want to stay
neutral if there is such a thing.

This is priceless, and means whatever you want it too.

That's naughty. But seriously, wouldn't pig rawhide make a pretty
decent slug? Certainly a little harder than a rubber bullet.
