We're glad to announce the availability of the first beta-versions of SObjectizer-5.6 and so5extra-1.3!

It's the result of several months of deep refactoring and modernization of SObjectizer Core and companion so5extra project. There are still more to do like additional testing on some platforms and compilers. Also, yet more work to do with the adaptation of the documentation for the new versions. But we hope that the final release of new SObjectizer will be somewhere in the mid of May 2019.

There are some highlights of the new SObjectizer/so5extra versions:

  • the development of new SObjectizer/so5extra versions is now done on BitBucket/Hg instead of SourceForge/Svn. The new home for SObjectizer is here, and the new home for so5extra is here. SourceForge will still be used for news, blog posts, distribution of source code tarballs, hosting the documentation for the older versions of SObjectizer and so5extra. There will also be new mirrors for SObjectzer/so5extra repositories on GitHub (but they are not created yet);
  • the documentation for the new version of SObjectizer/so5extra is also will be maintained on BitBucket. There is Wiki for SObjectizer, and there is Wiki for so5extra;
  • SObjectizer-5.6 and so5extra-1.3 require C++17 as the minimal C++ standard;
  • SObjectizer-5.6 breaks compatibility with SObjectizer-5.5. It is necessary to modify your source code on updating to SObjectizer-5.6. The same is for so5extra-1.3 -- it is not compatible with so5extra-1.2.

There is a more detailed list of changes in SObjectizer: v.5.6.0 What's New.

Archives with the new version of SObjectizer-5.6 can be found on BitBucket or SourceForge. The same is for so5extra: BitBucket or SourceForge.

We hope that the new versions of SObjectizer/so5extra are more powerful, expressive, less error-prone and easy to use. We also hope that you enjoy working with them. However, if you find yourself in some trouble, you can ask for help via BitBucket's issues or SObjectizer's Google Group. Alternatively, you can ask for help from stiffstream.
