Apple is expanding Self Service Repair, and launching a new diagnostic tool that gives users more transparency and autonomy to troubleshoot issues. Self Service Repair is now available for the iPhone 15 lineup and Mac models powered by the M2 lineup, including the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro, the 15-inch MacBook Air, Mac mini, Mac Pro, and Mac Studio. Self Service Repair is also now available for Apple users in 24 additional European countries, including Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Netherlands, Portugal, and Switzerland. Intended for users with the knowledge and expertise to repair Apple devices, Apple Diagnostics troubleshooting sessions will give customers the same ability as Apple Authorized Service Providers and Independent Repair Providers to test devices for optimal part functionality and performance, as well as identify which parts may need repair.
we already answered, there is no issues . this topic should be closed, it just means that I cannot check the magsafe port while on battery , so it literally ask us too plug it in , and then if you have PPP0000 and it's all good .
cos mine was that I got a refurbished MacBook Pro ( like new , 1 charge cycle , and just 500 Gb written on internal drive ) . so I check the computer with many tools, and did apple diagnostics , the first time I did it was on battery I got the P0001 ' error ' and on magsafe no issues found, so I was worried too and I logged in the apple website where they explain all codes, and I was reassured, cos the P0001 code just means that on battery the diag cannot test the power cord , and that's logical, if u plugged via magsafe you should get the P0000 code , if not I didn't understood your issue , please explain , I'll do my best to try to help you .
yes , read my answers above , it's logical that you have this error, cos if u consult safari it says to connect the magsafe cable and try again, this dial tool is far from perfect, it should explain better for example that it found no issues, but it couldn't test the charge cable for example, and also as I said, if u leave on external Magic Trackpad and keyboard this would also give me an error about bluetooth, but if I turn them off , then the MacBook is able to check the included keyboard and trackpad and report no errors, I really think should rethink how these errors code works, why not include the description of the " error "... so many people seems to think there is an issue and there are not, as long as you plug just magsafe and disconnect any accesories, turn off BT keyboards, mouse or trackpad , and u noticed that it should return no errors.
Next, if necessary, boot into Safe Mode by booting with the Shift key held down and check there to see if the problem persists. Then reboot normally and test Apple Diagnostics again.
If you give it time to attempt to connect and it never begins to boot to the online installer/diagnostic, then for some reason the Mac is not properly connecting to your local network or Internet using the Ethernet cable. I've sometimes had issues like this when repairing some of our organization's Macs. Many times I will boot back into macOS and double-check I have a valid IP address for the Ethernet connection, then I reboot and try to launch the online Diagnostics or Internet Recovery Mode which many times will just begin to work.
Try clicking the "...." and manually entering your WiFi's SSID and password in case the stored information is corrupt (the PRAM reset should have the default WiFi credentials removed unless of course you booted into macOS after the reset). Even if you select your SSID from the list you should be prompted for the WiFi password after the PRAM Reset.
There is no way to manually choose the Ethernet connection. The Mac will automatically use the Ethernet connection when it is present and should just beginning booting to the online diagnostic/server.
This is normal since the online Apple Diagnostics leverages the online Internet Recovery feature. Select your WiFi network or if your WiFi network is not shown, then click on the "....." so you can manually enter the WiFi's SSID and password. Or connect the Mac directly to the router using an Ethernet cable.
If it was any other company I could understand it, but Apple used to pride itself on simple easy to use systems and interfaces. This goes to show how much Apple is failing these days. I saw the writing on the wall with the Retina laptops and macOS 10.13 how things were declining from Apple's glory days. Having an oversight like this 15 years ago would have been unthinkable for Apple.
The Apple Diagnostics leverages the same Internet Recovery framework. Apple was just too lazy to properly label the mode you are using. Just let the diagnostics to finish booting. You can run the Apple Diagnostics by holding down the Option + D keys or on some systems just the "D" key will also work.
I know you said that you did it right, but it sounds as if you may be using the wrong command on startup. To access the Diagnostics mode, press the D key on restart. Internet Recovery mode requires that the Command + Option + R keys be pressed at startup. You can also do some diagnostics/repair by running the Disk Utility app. I would rerun it until it finishes with a Disk OK message.
Woke up this morning and my track-pad had stopped working, now back working after restart, so decided to run diagnostics. The loader is getting stuck at the language select screen. I select the language, hit ok, then starts running diagnostic, but shortly after goes off, hear the start-up chime then returns to language select screen. It's already been to apple repair once after battery just unexpectly died., it would be nice to be able to just run diagnostics.
If there is an issue with the diagnostics after they have started running, then it most likely indicates a hardware issue with the laptop. Make sure all external devices are disconnected when running the diagnostics. You have a 90 day part warranty after each Apple repair. If the laptop was sent to an Apple mail-in repair depot (sent by you, the Apple Store, or the AASP), then you may even have a 90 day repair warranty on the whole laptop. Make sure to resolve any issues during this 90 day period after a repair.
I saw something from Apple where the most recent Big Sur update is causing the diagnostics take much longer to run, but unfortunately I am unable to provide a link here. Let it sit and see if the diagnostic will finish. I don't know how long it will take.
This is truly unfortunate, because 'not being able to complete the diagnostic' has always been a serious indicator of hardware problems. Now you have to check for 11.3, and ignore this symptom if running exactly that version.
Hey Man I am also having same issues after 2 logicboard replacements. As some have pointed out it might be Bigsur 11.3 issue however just like you after update to 11.4 the issue is still not fixed. I am also getting frustrated
Apple support team Bunch of useless people they took mine MBP m1 on the diagnostic and my Mac just stayed in their office for 4 days without any repair. I have same issues with diagnostic and also my keyboard and touchpad freezes while I'm running diagnostics. Also they saying that you need wait for future update "fix those problems" and the problem just stays there since Big Sur 11.0.1
I have an old iMac running version 10.6..8 and have been having problems loading internet pages, etc. I wanted to do a diagnostic test to see if I could repair it as I can my macbook. I have tried the diagnostic instructions, i.e. turning off my computer and holding down the letter D but this has not worked and I cannot find my old disks at the moment. Can anyone advise please?
However, you have an old Mac. Old Macs came with Apple Hardware Test in the hard drive, but if you erased the hard disk or you upgraded Mac OS X, it was gone. Now, in order to use Apple Hardware Test, you need the Mac OS X DVDs which came with your Mac, so if you haven't got them, call Apple to get replacement DVDs >
As you have problems with Internet, it won't probably detect anything. Are you using Internet from Wi-Fi or Ethernet? Have you tried to connect your computer in the other way (if you are using Wi-Fi, use Ethernet, and if you are using Ethernet, use Wi-Fi)? Does the problem appear on other computers?
I tried to run Apple Diagnostic by pressing and holding "D" immediatly after running computer as apple documentation says but when I do this I get network selection screen (I didn't press "option" + "D"). But after selecting the network I don't see any diagnostic started. Just the same network selection screen where I can reselect the network. The same goes if I tried to press and hold "option" + "D".
