Dear all,
It is with much sadness that we share the news that SOAS alumnus
Alireza Ahmadian (MA International Studies & Diplomacy 2011-12) passed away on 28 June 2019.
Alireza was a much loved and valued member of the SOAS community, in particular through his work and support for the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy (CISD) which he continued to be an active supporter and member of for about 2 years after completing his MA. He had a big heart and cared very much for the university and the many people he met during his time at SOAS - students, academics and workers alike.
Alireza was a very proactive member of the Iranian diaspora community, helping to establish a Persian language and Iranian studies programme at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada) and being a regular contributor to the media (both print and broadcast) as a political analyst on Iran and on International Relations.
I cannot emphasize enough his contribution to the SOAS community, the Iranian and wider community in Vancouver (Canada) and to the many people he mentored, loved and cared for in all areas of his life.
It is with great sadness that we say farewell to our dearest and beloved friend and comrade, Alireza Ahmadian.
