We'll be providing Iranian tea and sweets (possibly wine too) and the occasion is just an informal gathering for all of you to come in and out as you like and mingle with other SOASians who share a connection or interest in the cultures, societies and study of Iran, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Afghanistan.
You will need a SOAS or University of London ID to enter the building.

A native of Iran, he was a musical prodigy who travelled around the country to perform and explore the music of its many regions. Internationally, he has appeared as soloist with a variety of symphony orchestras and ensembles, and is co-founder of renowned ensembles Dastan, Ghazal and Masters of Persian Music.

Situated in the ghost town of Bad City, it tells the tale of a black robed beauty prowling the streets at night in search of prey. When she meets lost and compassionate Arash, the stage is set for a thriller unlike any other where hunting and ritualistic patterns by moonlight open the stage for discussions on gender and retribution, drug abuse and spirituality.
The screening will be followed by a conversation between Moon Festival Artistic Director, Livia Filotico.

It is organised by a non-polotical film-focused organisation called UKIFF which aims to provide a platform for Iranian Cinema in the UK. The festival acts as an exhibition to provide further access to Iranian films that would otherwise not reach the silver screens in London. Launching in 2010 by Pejman Danaie, this is the only festival in the UK that is dedicated to Iranian Independent Cinema and showcases films that consistently explore Iranian culture and identity.
