Dear all,

Thank you for joining the SOAS Iranian Society 2018-19!

This is just a quick message to welcome all new and returning students and staff to the new academic year at SOAS! For those of you that are new, SOAS has for many years been a hub of Iranian studies and other activities in London, both through the SOAS Students' Union alongside the great work of the university's Centre for Iranian Studies, London Middle East Institute and Near and Middle East Section of the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics. So you are at the right place if Iran is 'your thing' !

We are currently in the early stages of passing over the Iranian society to Teal Mingledorff (MA Iranian Studies) who will help take over and oversee the running of the society during the school year. Please email us back if you would also like to take a role in helping her to keep the Iranian society active!

SOAS Iranian Society is an informal and voluntarily run network of SOAS students, staff and alumni. It is not the only platform for Iranians at SOAS, and neither does it seek to be the sole platform for Iranians within the university. The society simply seeks to provide an informal and friendly platform for networking, hosting events and socials, and supporting and raising issues of relevance to SOAS, students and the wider Iranian community. We also aim to cooperate with our counterparts at other universities in London.

We'll hopefully be able to host our first social / 'meet & greet' sometime next week, so watch this space and we'll get back to you about that asap!

Finally, if you are on this mailing list by mistake or no longer want to receive emails from us let me know and i can take you off the mailing list.

So, i guess that's all for now - enjoy your first week of term and i hope you all manage to make the most out of your time here at SOAS! Sounds like a cliche, but SOAS is indeed, a unique and special place.

Best,
