The glassing of both wings of the 2-meter Flip is complete. I'm happy with the results. Here are the weight numbers for the left wing:
Before -- 364 grams. This was the bare wing with the covering removed.
After -- 385 grams. With the glass cloth fully cured, I sanded the surface with medium grit sandpaper. Additionally, I applied a thin coating of CA. This hardened the surface with minimal weight gain. Re-sanding with medium grit, plus a finer grid sandpaper produced a smooth surface ready for painting.
Weight Gain was 21 grams = ~ 3/4 ounce.
It should be noted the Flip wing has quite a bit of wing area.
Primer/finish coats will be Klass Kote epoxy paint applied using a Paasche Airbrush sprayer. Having done this before, I'm confident in the outcome. Paasche Airbrush produces a fine, misting spray giving an even coating on the surface.
