The refurbished Flip is ready for 'first' flight. All that's lacking is good weather and a renewed enthusiasm for flying again. I've been too engrossed ice skating, my current passion. I might wait until late January or early February to I fly this thing again. I'm not worried about the plane so much as my rusty flying skill.

Nice looking model Ernie.  Some Callie Graphics would really make your Flip POP!!

Hi Ernie,

Do you have the weight figures before and after the mods?

Mike, I have the numbers for the left wing below. The weights do not include flap and aileron, however. I did not record weights of the right wing. I assume they are similar.

1) Left wing monokote covered but less flap & aileron was 393 grams.

2) Left wing fiberglass covered, primer, two color-coats epoxy paint (also less flap & aileron) was 420 grams.

This gives a final weight gain of 27 grams, an increase of 6.9%.

Overall, I'm quite happy with the outcome. A lot of work was involved in the finishing. Lots of sanding after glassing, and yet more sanding between primer and color coats.
