A glider that I was not aware existed...

Siberian flying squirrels are the only flying squirrel species in Europe and are found in the colder climes across Eurasia. Shy and mostly nocturnal, they hide in abandoned woodpecker nest holes. To escape predators, they use their glide membrane to leap from one tree trunk to another.

They seem to be larger, and are gray rather than brown compared to the San Bernardino flying squirrels that live around Big Bear Lake in S. Cal. Two of those have names, Fiona and Fast Freddie. They can occasionally be seen on You Tube at night when they visit the famous eagle nest to scrounge 'left overs'. .
