Dear ,

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.

As you may know, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act  protects federal computers connected to the Inter net from hacking and espionage.

The Constitution protects Americans against unreasonable searches and seizures and guarantees citizens a reasonable expectation of privacy. The Internet should be no exception. Just as in every aspect of Americans' lives, Internet users should not fear government intrusion except in cases involving law enforc ement or public safety threats.

Today, we face an enemy unlike any we have ever seen, and there is evidence that computer networks represent a real target. It is important to ensure that our cyber and communications infrastructure is strong enough to ward off attacks and intrusions from both internal and external threats while remaining vigilant to ensure that our laws protect civil liberties.

I will continue to carefully consider the tools we give law enforcement and make sure they are enhancing our security with minimal impact on citizens' privacy.

Agai n, thank you for contacting me. I look forward to continuing our conversation on Facebook ( www.facebook.com/SenatorBlunt ) and Twitter ( www.twitter.com/RoyBlunt ) about the important issues f acing Missouri and the country.  I also encourage you to visit my website ( blunt.senate.gov ) to learn more about where I stand on the issues and sign-up for my e -newsletter .

Sincere regards,

Roy Blunt
United States Senator

some in soar believe the proposed security act will violate 4th admendment and 5th admendment rights, thus not happy with senator's position.  rights once lost are usually gone forever
