..and a smaller version is available in SA - called Fablabs.

 

They offer free laser cutting, cnc machining (250x250mm only - no wings :-), plasma cutting capability etc. etc. albeit on a smaller scale than the Menlo Park one.

 

There are a few spread around the country (or maybe just Gauteng).
