I had forgotten about this:

http://www.arrl.org/news/rac-to-split-ontario-into-four-sections

Although the article states that Canadian amateurs may start using the
new sections as early as Field Day, I have found no confirmation of that
and no official abbreviations for the new sections. The 2012 FD
packet's listing of all sections only shows ON. I suppose that if given
one of the new section names as part of the exchange that we'll simply
log ON and have life go on.

I had assumed that SS would be the first contest to be affected by that. It seems
strange that it is effective Sep 1, 2012 but stations would use it during FD?

If you want to add them it is not hard. Just add a new line to arrl.txt (in /share) for
each section. I don't have any idea what the new section abbreviations will be however.

FD has no multipliers or log checking so just logging ON won't be a
problem. You could also make a note (ctrl-n) if a station sends something funny.

The news item is from early February and I've not seen an update since.
Perhaps they thought they'd have something more official by this point.

Good tip on using the notes to record such an oddity. I'm sure when
confronted with something like that I'll answer the questions this
weekend. I'll have to do a quick run down on features. I'm ready for
it! Most of the ops are SSB only so they'll just be logging stuff.
Myself and another will be doing CW so we'll be more interactive with
the program.
