Friendlies: I'm just gonna keep throwing stuff up on the google group here about the needs I'm seeing at the places I'm volunteering. I spent the day at Occupy Sandy's site at St. Luke and St. Matthew. The levels of volunteers are tapering off as folks get back to work. We are in need of volunteers, especially during the weekdays. You can connect into a number of different jobs: working in the kitchen, sorting supplies, or going to effected communities to distribution hubs or to canvass.
In particular need: folks with laptops who are good with spread sheets, drivers with cars, folks with medical and legal expertise, folks who speak Spanish or Russian, folks with construction knowhow. If you have 2 or more days a week to give, you can be trained up as a coordinator.
Large groups (like from churches) are welcome -- if you have a church group that wants to come, or wants to do a construction job in a neighborhood, pick a date, and I'll connect you with the person you need to talk to.
