From the Rockaway Youth Task Force

The Rockaway Youth Task Force is a group of local high school and college youth I work with in my day job.  Under normal circumstances, they provide support to their peers on the Rockaway with getting into college, participating in local decision-making, registering people to vote, and making sure youth voices are heard.  They have been operating an emergency relief center out of the Nordeck Community Center at Beach 57th Street since Sandy hit.  Click here for an update from them about their work and about how you can help support their efforts to organize local young people in the days and weeks ahead.  Please follow them on Facebook for further updates.  Encourage them, and let them lead you.
