I have installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on my Desktop, but Ethernet is not connected. My Computer uses Intel Ethernet Connection I219-LM.In my opnion, Ubuntu doesn't have installed a proposal network driver. I can't find ethernet driver.
It is related to data chewing from Dell producsts on LAN? If yes, you need to ensure all the devices connected to same network with latest driver. Use a wired connection: If you are using a wireless connection, try using a wired connection instead. This may improve your network speed.
i came across this tread. it has a solution, but i still need to figure out what driver to use. So if any one has got it to work. could u please share what version on driver they are using as the intel driver pack has alot of variations, None of the HP ones work.
What's so interesting: 15 59 was the primary identifier of the i218-V, and 15 5A primary identifier of the i218-LM in the driver offered once by intel in a ProEmbSW12 Embedded-driver-package (which was later removed as stated earlier here, point 7).
The internet suggested that e1000e is the driver for this Ethernet I219-LM controller. If I run lsmod grep e1000e this shows no results. I can load the driver with modprobe e1000e after which it shows up in lsmod, but the Network Settings GUI does not allow me to select a wired connection. I also do not see any errors in dmesg grep e1000e; only the copyright notice.
