hey guys,

i have a quick question for you guys that regard the lan game function
in the game:

my brother and i have snowballz (i think version 0.9.5.1 for both of
us).

i am running snowballz under ubuntu 8.10 while my brother uses windows
xp.

when both of us run the game, he'll host the game, but when i click
"join", i get a box asking for the host.

i have no clue what to put there, because if i put the host's ip
number in there, nothing really happens.

if my brother does the same as i did, the same thing happens.

so basically i'm asking for a way so my brother and i can do a lan
game at the least.

can you guys tell us what to put in there and/or update snowballz to
fix this problem?

a quick reply would help.

We never tested network play on windows (that I can remember) so I'm not
certain it will even work.

If you are sure that you typed in the correct IP (can you ping it?) then I'm
not sure there is anything I can do.

Perhaps try disabling the firewall on the windows machine too (I forget the
port that it goes though).

i tested it with my computer on windows today and it didn't work on
both sides.

both sides can ping each other.

firewall is disabled too.

the program, btw, crashed every now and then when my brother (or
myself) try to connect.

so i guess that there's nothing feasible yet. i hope it's fixed by
version 1.0 once you put it up :-)
