Hello,

I try to package snowballz for Mandriva, and I have some problems.

The main one is that the installation script doesn't copy snowballz.py
anywhere (how to launch it then ?).

I tried to find someone to get in touch and try to correct the problem.

On irc.freenode.net, #snowballz : the topic says to create an account on
assembla.com and to use jabber to join a room.

Account created (I had another jabber account, I would had loved to use
it instead), Jabber connected, and then, impossible to go to the room
because I'm not in the guest list....

Happy new year

Oh, sorry about that... we were using the irc channel for dev perposes
on the new version - and we moved to jabber to hold meetings.

As for the problem you are having; the setup.py file isn't setup to be
used with easy install - I used it for packaging it into a tarball.
I'm sorry I can't really help you; I've never packaged for a distro
before. There is an Ubuntu package - not sure how they did it but it
might give you ideas on how to do it.

The problem is not to use IRC or Jabber, but that a new user can't reach it.
Perhaps you should consider opening the Jabber room to everyone.

What is the proper way for installing snowballz in the current hierarchy
(that is, equivalent to "make install") ?

Have a nice day

Hi Olivier,

Thank you for your concerns about the game. It's good to see a
community forming. :)

The game currently doesn't install, it just drops into a folder... you
just have to make sure the directory structure is intact.

To run the game, just run "python snowballz.py" with correct
dependencies installed as instructed on the website.

As for the IRC/Jabber problems, the Jabber room is our private dev
room. We have 2 IRC channels which we will now be monitoring more
closely, and we'll be looking for people to help monitor them, if
you'd be interested. The channels are on irc.freenode.net , #snowballz
and #snowballz-fans . Sorry that we weren't there to take your
question, and we'll be monitoring them more closely now. This group is
there for the times we can't be online.

Joey knows who the packager for the Ubuntu version is, ask him who
that is. :)

If you have any further concerns or questions, please feel free to
reply to this email.
Thanks
