With the iPad connected to the external screen, scroll down your IPad screen to access the Control Centre, and in the music/sound box, press the Airplay button. You should then see an option to switch to your speakers/headphones.
Just get some cheap speakers. You can get good ones for $50 or more. Usually the monitor will have a 3.5mm headphone jack output or some kind of audio output. If not, I suggest upgrading the monitor. The speakers will also provide much better sound than the iPad and also you don't have to always use headphones.
when I followed one of the advice which was basically to click through Airplay icon on the top right hand side of your iPad And to select the Bluetooth speaker / AirPod option Because since your monitor would not have audio output functionality , you will need an external audio source And Eureka moment !!! It worked
Not sure what kind of docking station you may be using. I encountered this issue while using an iPad Pro with a Dell WD19TB docking station connected to a television via HDMI cable. Connected the USB-C to the iPad and received a picture but no sound. Tried changing the settings of the TV to external speaker and also used a cord with a yellow audio jack on one end and the headphone jack on the other end. Neither option worked. I finally acquired an hdmi-to-display adapter and put the tv sound back to tv speaker and voila! Although everyone does not have the same docking station, I hope this gives you a lead in finding a resolution to your issue.
The next day after I unplugged and reconnected the screen via the same HDMI cable, the sound on the iPad was gone again. As macobs30 mentions, the Dock Connector cannot be turned off. So the issue is not resolved. Frustrating actually.
While we were all expecting a successor to the G8, LG instead announced a successor to the V50. The LG V60 ThinQ 5G is the latest fully featured flagship smartphone from Samsung's Korean rival. LG doesn't go quite as hard with the spec sheet as others like Samsung and Oppo, but it also doesn't go as hard with the price point.
The V60 is packed with 5G, a 64MP camera chock-full of features including 8K video, a 3.5mm headphone jack, hefty battery, wireless charging, and an optional Dual Screen accessory - all starting at a price lower than the entry-level Samsung Galaxy S20. On paper, LG has all it needs to compete not just with Samsung, but other brands like Apple and Google.
There's no longer a dedicated telephoto camera on the V60, but LG attributed this was because the high-resolution of the 64MP sensor can shoot lossless zoom photos, so we'll certainly be testing this. The other two cameras are the ultrawide and a dedicated 3D ToF camera. This took preference over a dedicated zoom camera - so we'll see how much better portraits will look.
LG switched to a Full HD+ panel with the G8X and is has done the same with the V60. Only a handful of manufacturers continue to use QHD panels on their top-tier offerings including Samsung, Google, OnePlus, and Huawei. We don't mind the switch, but we'll be looking out for brightness and color quality. Other phone makers are fitting their devices with high-refresh rate displays, and LG hasn't done so here.
LG's vision of multitasking continues with the Dual Screen accessory. A few changes have been made to the texture on the back, the external display is brighter, and the magnetic charging tip has been updated. LG plans to bundle the Dual Screen with purchase of the V60, which drives the value up even further.
There's a lot to like about the LG V60 on paper, and although it doesn't have every item on the feature list that competitors do, it's got the whole flagship ground floor covered. Let's dig further and see what LG is packing this year.
LG's packaging hasn't changed much over the years. The unit we received was a T-Mobile branded one, and the only visual difference was the T-Mobile branding printed on the side and the inclusion of a T-Mobile SIM card in the box.
Under the lid is a welcome note and cleaning cloth. The note from LG has information about adding a second year of warranty for free when you register the V60 online. The phone itself is wrapped in protective plastic.
I have the same problem as Badgercop. It seems that this is pretty common as shown by these similar threads in the sidebar to this thread. The best, though not optimal, solution seems to be to turn off the HDMI-CEC connection on your TV. It would be nice of SONOS would fix the APP to handle this situation. The problem is not solely with LG systems - both Samsung and Sony are referenced in the other threads.
I just purchased a new Samsung TV today and a Sonos beam+sub and now have this issue when connecting my Bose Bluetooth headset. The HDMI-CEC workaround is not good/nice, so I really hope that Sonos can fix this issue somehow.
In very simple setups HDMI-CEC can work well, however, in more complicated setups it is a hazard. You can get into a situation where the order of commands is important. For example if one turns OFF the TV, then turns OFF the Blue-ray player, the TV is likely to turn ON again and switch to the cable box. This can create interesting dramas if one partner is sleeping and the other had been watching a disc. This becomes worse if the viewing partner falls asleep without properly shutting down the system. Eventually, most Blu-ray players will automatically turn OFF after a disc ends and there are no further commands. Another drama unfolds if the cable company updates their firmware in the middle of the night because the TV might turn ON after the update is complete.
Realise this thread is a bit old but came across it when I was searching for an answer to the same issue I am having and can confirm that the brand new Sonos Arc also has the exact same problem. Using Sonos Arc with LG C9 connected via eARC with CEC enabled and am now not able to use any other audio outputs. After selecting any of them, it jumps back to ARC after a couple of seconds.
Hope its a bug that gets resolved as currently the implementation of CEC on this flagship Sonos soundbar is quite disappointing.

I've had Beam and sub 3.1 combo for 2 years now hooked up to a LG E8 and have to switch HDMI CEC off to use bluetooth with my headphones. I see it as a CEC issue not a Sonos one. I also have CEC issues when activating CEC and other items like ATV4K and a Foxtel cable box I need to turn it off for the Apple box.
Same behavior. I can't use any other audio options other than the internal speakers. With Bluetooth I get a second of sound, then the ARC takes back the output. On my LG OLED I can't even turn off hdmi-cec as it turns it back on when I switch to the sound bar.
thank you!! Found this through a Google search. I have an LG OLED B8 with the Beam and have the same problem! This is unfortunately a temporary and annoying work around. My Bose 700 bluetooth headphones cost more than the Beam, can't Sonos step up to allow us to switch between them quickly?? I use them at night so i don't bother the wifey while enjoying some late night TV in our condo.
I have noticed the same issue with an LG C9 and Sonos ARC. I have an old pair of Sony rf wireless headphones connected to the headphone jack. When I switch to the headphone option they work fine, but when I try to connect my new Bluetooth headphones the tv switches back to eARC after a couple of seconds. Really frustrating. Seems strange its just the Bluetooth connection that is is affected, but looks like I will be sticking with the old headphones. Its a shame Sonos cannot fix this as I never had the same issue with my old soundbar.
I just started using my Ally again after a few months, as I had to send in my PCs motherboard for repairs. But no matter what I try, I cannot get the Ally to even detect a second monitor no matter what I try.
First I tried using the official ASUS ROG Ally dock (the one that plugs directly into the wall), and nothing was being detected. I tried multiple HDMI cables that I had been using for other devices in my home, and nothing. I even tried multiple monitors. So I updated EVERYTHING and tried again. Nothing.
So I figured it's been a while since I used the Ally, might as well re-install windows. So I did that, and updated everything. Still, no displays are being detected. Next I bought a new docking station thinking maybe the ROG Dock was bad.
On this new docking station, every single USB port works, the Ethernet port works, headphone jack works, but still, my Ally won't even detect any other display. My motherboard will be gone for possibly 3 weeks. Please help if anyone can.
I would like to confirm with you whether you have updated the BIOS to the latest version 336 and are using the ASUS-validated display driver for the AMD graphics card with driver version V31.0.22023.6003.
Additionally, have you tested using ALLY to directly connect to the monitor or tried using a different monitor for testing? Could you please share the brand and model of your monitor for further verification? Thank you.
everything was working fine and all of sudden it stopped showing display on my monitor my keyboard and mouse still work ,it even works if i connect it with a HDMI but on the dislpay port 1.4wont work my monitor doesnt detect it anymore
