The tail end of July and the start of August have brought a continuous
nor-west wind cycle; we are debating on whether the nor-westers are
few months late or a few months early? Either way whilst some
Mountain ranges are being wind stripped by the warm winds the club
field ranges snap up the last of the precipitation resulting a
delivery of the good stuff in our favorite basins on the Craigieburn
ranges.

The snow is varied and the Snow Hunters have been enjoying putting
tracks in chalky packed powder, soft n slow and the always appealing
cold light powder. The club fields can proudly say they have the best
skiing and riding in Canterbury at the present, avalanche risk is at
moderate with some wind loading present in some areas. The snow is
skiing soft with temperatures remaining on the warmer side with the
nor-west cycle. Mother Nature has kindly put her hand to some natural
wind grooming, filling in our tracks so we can do it all over again.

The rope tows have been happily spinning in the breezy conditions
which mean BDS can get you out to the secret stashes without the worry
of lifts being on hold or closing. The forecast is for more spring
like conditions with great coverage in the basins. With all these
sunny skiing days the goggle tan is surely to be cooled off with a
cold southerly blast and when it arrives we are ready, till then soft
and forgiving is suiting us just fine thanks.
