Snort 2.9.0 just went live so I'll be updating the guide and testing
SR within the next few days.

Let me know when you've got that updated guide. It's pretty much been
my lifesaver with figuring out Snort, but I'm pretty sure it's broken
with the new version. I've started from scratch again and I get
errors about the libdnet library when trying to configure the snort
source code.

The current issue has to do with the Snort 2.9 signatures.  I'm going to test with the 2.8.6 ruleset tonight but there are no guarantees - we might be in a 30 day holding period but I'm not sure yet.  Sourcefire has changed a bunch of stuff with 2.9.0 so I also need to sort through all of that.
