Subject: [ ICOR ] Spiritual program by my teacher Sheikh Muhammad Ilyas - Tomorrow (Fri-29 Jan) at 8PM

Assalamu Alaikum

Dear community,

Alhamdulillah, we are fortunate again to have my Ustaz Sheikh Muhammad Ilyas Patel of South Africa address us in this coming Friday Halaqah. Insha Allah.

The Sheikh is a senior scholar of Hadith and Fiqh, someone who Allah has blessed with a deep understanding of the Qur'an and has been an inspiration to many families.

The program will take place at 8:00 PM this Friday 01/29/2021 on Zoom for about 20 - 25 minutes Insha Allah

You can join the program using the following link:

I invite all of you to participate in this session with your families. We all are constantly in need of spiritual upliftment and sometimes we need to hear the advice of such people to connect better to the Qur'an and Sunnah.

A few words about Sheikh Muhammad Ilyas:

I'll just share a few words about the speaker. A random recollection of memories I have of him during my student days and after:

The Sheikh is a senior lecturer of Hadith at Madrasah Taleemuddeen and has been the driving force of establishing many Makatib (childrens Islamic schools) and upliftment centers  in hundreds of locations throughout South Africa and other parts of Africa. - He refuses to take any credit for it.

Always adhering to the Sunnah from the acts of Ibadah to his mannerisms and his conduct with others. I have never seen or heard him ever mention anything negative about anyone.

One of the most outstanding qualities of the Sheikh is his extreme humility and sincerity. The Sheikh has authored many works, including a detailed book on Estate Planning and Inheritance according to Islamic Law, a book filled with advice for the Hafiz and many other pieces of literature. Despite this, he shys away from penning his name to the book and makes it a point that the contents may be freely reproduced without any copyright - again not taking any credit for his work.

I along with other colleagues happened to witness him on multiple occasions offering help to the destitute and needy, even going to remote rural areas and delivering goods for them personally in such a way that no one would know it was him or who he was. It reminds me of the companions of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) in particular Abu Bakr and Umar (Radiyallahu Anhum) where they would go around assisting the poor and needy discreetly so that no one knew who they were.

Spending time with him in Ramadaan, I recall his long Rak'ahs and his profuse Dua in seclusion in the midst of the night and so is his practice throughout the year.

I always felt that I was a favourite of his. Later on I realized that others felt the same too and then I realized that he possess some part of this quality which the Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was known for; where his companions (Radiyallahu Anhum) said: "The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) gave each one of us so much of attention that each one of us thought he was more beloved to Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) than the next person".
