Assalaam Alaikum,

I am making an earnest appeal to you to support Ishat-Ul-Khair Charitable trust in Hyderabad, India whose managing trustee is Maulana Ahmed Abdullah Tayyeb Qasmi, a paternal uncle of Mufti Abdul Mujeeb (Imam, Masjid Omar Farooq, Mountlake Terrace). I personally know the Maulana for the last 19 years and vouch for his work. Two incidents that I personally witnessed during my travels with the Maulana for the trust are below.

2.            One was that a young boy was employed at a Hindu employer to make stone idols because his parents had to borrow money from him for their daughter’s marriage.  Since they couldn’t pay off the debt the son had to work at the employer until the debt was paid off.  But condition was such that the daily wage earned by the boy was not able to pay off even the interest on the money let alone the principal. The trust paid off the debt for the parents, and then admitted the boy to the madrasah, paid a monthly stipend to the family so that the boy could study in the Madrasah instead of working as a daily labor to help the family make ends meet. Now the boy has completed his elementary education and is employed by the trust to work in collecting charitable donations for the trust.

3.            Second Incident is that I personally experienced which was bone chilling wherein a family was forced to keep their children as collateral just like people keep their Jewelry as collateral until they are able to pay off the debts that they owed to a person. These kids would work several long hours and even then the wage earned is not enough to pay off the interest let alone the principal and the children are stuck on a never ending rut. Alhamdulillah the trust was able to pay off the debt, get the children out of this situation and get them on a path of elementary Islamic education.”  Please support the trust, it’s one of the most deserving of your donations. More details on the Trust’s work are below.

4.            Alhamdulillah! Ishat-Ul-Khair charitable trust  in Hyderabad, Rajahmundry and Kakinada runs three residential schools (Madaaris) wherein there are 300 residential students and  among them, 275 students receive complete support from the trust for their elementary education, food, clothing, boarding and housing  since these students are from very underprivileged homes and are not able to afford even the basic necessities.

5.            Alhamdulillah! In 50 remote villages, the trust runs elementary Islamic schools (Makatib) which has 1500 students.

6.            For the Rajahmundry and Kakinada students the trust has complete responsibility of supporting their education and living expenses.  And for the orphans amongst them, their widowed mothers also receive a monthly stipend from the trust to meet their basic necessities.

7.            The trust also runs 3 Non-residential Islamic Schools (Madaaris) with a total of 650 students.  Amongst them  550 are again completely supported by the trust  for their studies, food, room and board and for those students whose families can’t afford even the basic necessities a monthly stipend is given to the families so as to enable the students to study in the Madaris.  Otherwise the parents would be forced to pull them out from the Madaris and engage these young children in daily wage labor to earn a living so that the family can put some food on the table.

8.            The trust also provides for some warm blankets during winter and a pair of new clothes to the poor children so that they can at least have a new pair of clothes during Eid.

9.            The trust has more than 110 teachers to fulfil the teaching obligations of the students.

10.          The trust has a monthly expenditure of Indian Rupees 800,000 (USD 10,609) and meets its expenditure from charitable donations. The trust is presently in a financial difficulty with a loan of Indian Rupees 1,000,000 (USD 13,261)

11.          All of us know the importance of the Madaris and Makatib in keeping alive and protecting the religion and its teachings

12.          Due to the lockdown in India because of the present Corona Virus situation there has been a very severe decline in the fees from the students and the donations.  The personnel who would travel to various locations on behalf of the trust to collect donations are not being able to do so either. The donations from these travels would in normal circumstances have generated enough revenue to pay off the debts and expenditures for 7-8 months but that opportunity is not available at the moment.

13.          To pay off the Rupees one million debt and meet the monthly expenditure of the trust we humbly request all of you please contribute your donations (Sadaqah and zakat as well (since many students are deserving of zakat – but please mention if the donation is zakat so it can be used for that purpose), in this blessed month of Ramadhan and Allah swt will reward you immensely.

14.          The monthly revenue and expenses are audited, and the last annual audit report is attached for your reference.

15.          Donations can be sent to Ateeque Mohammad thru’ zelle on 425 829 2107. Please mention Ishat-Ul-Khair and if Zakat please mention so it can be used as such.

Ateeque.
