Hi Friend!
Have you heard the great news? I’m running for Redmond City Council this year! First off, I want to thank you because it was the encouragement I received from friends and family like you that allowed me to find the courage to run for this position. Endeavors like this are never won alone and I wouldn’t be taking this journey unless I knew I was surrounded by great people like you joining me. Before I tell you a little more about why I’m running, please take the time to show your support here.
I’ve grown up in and around Redmond, a city my family called home when I was in elementary school, and where I can say most of my fond childhood memories are. I’m grateful for the education, public transportation, parks and community centers that Redmond has provided for me and my family. Because I have grown up here, I have seen how much our city is changing, and how our leadership is not adapting with this change.
That’s why I’m running right here and right now.
My first public forum is tonight in Education Hill and will be shared here.
This is a city that’s growing rapidly and needs its city hall to represent the needs of its diversifying community, as well as to be a leader in a changing region. We’re already starting to feel the effects of climate change, and as a city that hosts many tech leaders, we need the leadership that drives home real and innovative solutions to renewable energy and emergency preparedness. I want to see residents getting around and through the city easier by increasing public transit options and improved infrastructure. Diversity is one of our city’s greatest strengths, which is why we need to be intentional about equity and inclusion, starting with making Redmond affordable to live and work here. Bridging the various communities is how we can guarantee Redmond is a welcoming city, especially through parks and programs.
I look forward to your support and sharing this victory with you,
Varisha
