Hello all,

I am Jay Kola, the principal developer of Snofyre. Due to various employment and personal reasons, I have been unable to actively participate in this community after January 2011. I am not sure if this group is active and if there are any active users of Snofyre. It does look like the primary Snofyre (http://code.google.com/p/snofyre) site gets between 100 - 200 hits each month.

Is there anyone on this group who is actually using Snofyre code in development, test or production systems? If you are, please respond to this email or get in touch with me. I am creating the successor to Snofyre, which is unlikely to be Snofyre 2.0, because of various reasons, principally:

  • IP ownership of Snofyre code
  • Migration from RF1 to RF2 - which means its easier to throw out some chunks of existing code and rewriting from scratch.
  • Various optimisations & refactoring on improve performance and to focus on core functionality, since Snofyre tries to do too many things!

I am still considering offering the successor under an open source license, since I believe a 'core API' for SNOMED CT needs to be be open source and available to the wider community. I would like to hear thoughts from any active users on what their views are on this and what might be a migration path, if any. I'd welcome any offers to participate in or support the development of the successor.

Please note that I do not maintain this group and the existing Snofyre site. So, I do not expect this email to have any effect on the existing content of this group and the Snofyre site.

Regards,
Jay
