Looking for mentors

Hi folks,

I just received this from a friend at work and wanted to pass it along. They are in need of Mentors for the competition and possibly other roles.

The WSU student IEEE Club is holding a hackathon at TheLab on the weekend of April 13/14. The focus is on AI and robotics. They have a great sense of humor and entitled it the Shitty Robotic hackathon. Apparently that term has a web following.

Some details:
Schedule
Registration in at 9 on Sat
10 Sat begin
They will have access to WSU workshop for more heavy materials cutting, etc through Sat eve. They are planning to make actual working robots with any theme they like, but the expectation is that they will be more humorous than serious industrial robotics.
End and judging will be mid day on Sun Apr 14.
Judging criteria
Originality, Performance, Complexity
Bonus for Sense of Humor and Asthetics

TheLab is putting together a schedule for mentors to sign up. We hope that there will be several – especially daytime on Sat and early Sun. There is a file to sign up at

We would welcome all the assistance. Please feel free to share with others who would be interested.

All are welcome back for the judging event as well. Just let us know and we will details to any interested as soon as we are sure of the time for that.

Thank you
Diane

Additional note on programming:

Students will have access to both Arduino and Raspberry Pi platforms. This allows a lot of flexibility for programming languages. In general we expect to see C, C++, Arduino, Python, and Java.
