Hi.

Just a quick note. The "SN.IM" domain has stopped working from some
countries this morning, apparently.

We have tried to contact NIC.IM, the registrar, but it's Sunday so
they're conveniently unreachable (the luxury of being a monopoly
domain seller!).

Truly, so many apologies for this embarrassing inconvenience, but it's
a situation where I am as perplexed and disappointed as you are, so
please bear with me. We'll sort this out asap.

For now, could you please please use snipr.com domain instead.

Will update this shortly.

Regards,
Shashank

Does that mean that all our snip urls.com's will automatically work on
snipr.com?

They have always worked that way.

Sn.im, Snipr.com, Snurl.com, Snipurl.com are all synonymous. You can
use any one of them.

It's only sn.im that has stopped working for (and we're on it) but
snipr.com etc are all functional.

So if you have sn.im/abcxyz you can still share it as snipr.com/abcxyz
-- this works.

Hi everyone,

I feel moved to say something here. I realize that an outage in any service
causes problems for everyone who uses it. Still, in all the time I've used
SnipURL (including all its domains), this is the first serious, full-blown
outage that has occurred. I think that's a fantastic track record, even if
this were a paid service.

Heck, if you sign up for pingdom.com, you'll find that your own site is down
here and there ... and your hosting service won't even tell you.

This snipping service is not only free, it's quite elaborate ... it provides
MANY features not found elsewhere. I've seen these folks work over time, and
I trust Shashank & Co. to do their level best to resolve this in a most
timely fashion, given whatever external constraints they may face.

I am reminded here of an old saying, that patience is a virtue. I urge
everyone to communicate that which is helpful ... that which might
contribute to further understanding the problem(s) at hand ... and nothing
more. The folks at SnipURL know how important this is to us all, we don't
need to bonk them over the head, if you see what I mean.

Let's all choose the high road, let's all conduct ourselves with virtue. For
like SnipURL, this, too, is free.

Just my opinion ... and no, I don't work for SnipURL, I'm just a user like
everyone else. :)

Best to all,
Elchanan, Presiding Emissary for

This is a major drawback to using url shortener services like SnipURL.

I use this service for very important matters like giving a link to my
professional profile on my resume or on my business cards.

If such a link stops working, it is a big deal. But worse, if it displays a
page with Chinese ads, full of "video sexy", "free sexy"
links, it is a major blowout with serious impact. This does not sound very
serious from your side. How can I trust your service after this?

Please offer a detailed explanation of the incident.

Regards.
