Hi,

with version 1.4.3 of Snippets I run into trouble on my iMac (OS X 10.8.5 German language).

After starting Snippets the menu bar icon does not appear in the menu bar.
I have to open the preferences and disable 'show in menu bar' and to activate it again.

But after activation the applied shortcut does not open the search panel.
Clicking on the menu bar opens the search panel.
But after typing one only letter, Snippets freezes and than crashes.

I have tried to work with a new Library (after moving the Snippets-Folder out of the .../Library/Application Support-Folder).
A new Library has been created.
-> Same problems like with the original database.

I have also tried to use version 1.4.3 with new created users on my iMac.
But I didn't have success:
-> The same problem like with the default user.

So I have turned back to version 1.4.1 (stored with TimeMachine).
And now everything seems to work as well as the years before!

There seems to be something rotten which version 1.4.3.

Best wishes
Martin

Hi Martin,
Thanks a lot for the report. We will try to reproduce and fix it.

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem: iMac 2,66 GHz Core 2 Duo / 6 GB RAM / OS X 10.8.5 Spanish.
But I'm not as lucky as Martin and I couldn´t make any backup of it, so I will not be able to fix it by myself.
So, if your not going to fix it in a while —and considering your lack of support and updates, it clearly means you're NOT—, would you PLEASE tell me where can I get a stable version?
Thanks!

SOLVED.
Since Codebox is Tuesday Dollar today, I'm moving to a more serious app right now:

You may also take a look at DASH.

My favorite since Snippets doesn't make the job any more.
I have previously enjoyed working with Snippets.
But now I have moved to DASH.

Best wishes.

Hey There,

Snippets development is a bit stalled at the moment, but how is CodeBox a serious app? It hasn't been updated since April 2012...

Hi, Christopher.

I'll explain you what I mean saying 'serious' in just two words: IT WORKS.
I really don't care much about how often it's updated. Maybe they don't have to because IT WORKS.
Sure, you update your apps very often –or not: once a year or every 15 months. But yes, you did two weeks ago, for example… And it stopped working as usual. An update spoiled it. Read again the first post, please.

Do I have to assume that you are part of Snippet developers team?
If so, congrats. Honestly, your app is perfect: cute, well planned, integrated… Perfect. That's exactly why I payed for it (we can also argue about this: is Snippets going to refund the money if you don't fix it?). I chose Snippets among many others and it wasn't a cheap decision. But if it doesn't work anymore and you're not going to do anything to solve it, Snippets isn't more serious than Dash or CodeBox.

So please, Christopher, if you have something to say about my new choices –Codebox or whatever–, wouldn't it be better starting with "Update 1.4.4.: Fixed issues that made the application crash when clicking on the menu icon. We apologise for all the annoyance and for judging our customer's choices"? Do so and you'll get my whole attention.
But if you aren't  going to do so (and no, you aren't), let me tell it in Spanish again: a tomar por culo, Snippets! (I guess you'll be able to translate it somehow).

Peace and love, nevertheless.

Best regards.
C.

You jump to a lot of conclusions assuming I'm part of the Snippets dev team.

I am not.

I've owned CodeBox since it first appeared on the App-Store. Vadim was part of the Snippets dev team before he forked CodeBox.

It's okay, but *serious*...

Please.

Neither Snippets nor CodeBox has sufficient ability to find on multiple criteria, so neither is a truly serious option.

Sorry guys for keeping this issue unresolved for a long time. It is already fixed, update is published.

Also I want to answer to some of the complains that appeared here.

First of all, I'd like to confirm that Christopher is not part of the Snippets team.

Secondly Snippets development is not stalled. If you take a look at our blog and read the latest blog post http://www.snippetsapp.com/blog/new-snippets.html you will find a lot of interesting information. We are working on the new version of Snippets where Snippets for Mac was rewritten from scratch, we also created Snippets for Windows and all this on top of our cloud platform that allow you to sync your data between different computers and will provide a number of additional services. We are still working on the core of the platform which is sync and then we will add more features like private and public sharing, communities, web app etc. This will be a premium subscription service.

So, this is our top priority job at the moment. Since we are not making any money from it yet and sales of the old Snippets can't cover all development expenses, we have a very little amount of time to fix issues in old Snippets, however we do our best to support it. This is also the reason for no new features in old Snippets. All new features will be added to the new Snippets and when new version will be ready for production old Snippets will be upgraded to the new one.

Best regards,
Vladimir.
