ImportError: No module named site

I tried all the solutions given on google groups. I also tried setting PYTHONHOME to $SNIPER_ROOT/python_kit/intel64/lib/python2.7 but the error is still the same.

the only difference is:

when PYTHONHOME is not set: 

 [SNIPER] Start

ImportError: No module named site

[SNIPER] End

[SNIPER] Elapsed time: 1.49 seconds

make: *** [run_fft] Error 1

when PYTHONHOME is set:

ImportError: No module named site

make: *** [run_fft] Error 1

I am using UBUNTU 12.04. Pin version: 71313...64-bit machine.  Python 2.7.3, GCC 4.6.3 

Please help.
