running sniper with roi and parsec-3.0 results in empty sim.out

I've compiled parsec-3.0 with gcc 7.3.0 and went through the process of including gcc-sniper.bldconfig in each benchmark and (almost) all the related libraries and tools to enable roi.

sniper seems to run normally, but sim.out is empty.

What did I do wrong?
