to Standardise Nigerian English Movement (SNEM)
Nigerian English Studies Association (NESA) in collaboration with the
Covenant University Ota just concluded their 27th annual Conference
last Friday the 5th of November 2010. The Theme was:
"Towards the Codification of Nigerian English".
Our group, Standardise Nigerian English Movement (SNEM) forwarded a
paper titled, "Standardising Nigerian English; a Move Towards
Development of Nigeria in the 21st Century".
The organisers of the Conference were very cooperative and supportive
to the formation our Movement. Thanks to Dr Taiwo Abioye, Head, Dept
of Languages Covenant University, Ota and Dr Stephen Ogunpitan,
Secretary, Local Organising Committee for their support. We are also
grateful to Prof Ulrike B. Gut who linked us to the organisers. We
look forward to participating more actively in future events of NESA.
This is just the beginning.
Also, we are preparing for another Conference by the Nigerian
Progressive Conference, Abuja. This conference is coming up on the
29th & 30th of November 2010. We have been approached to present a
paper on a similar topic. Any member who is interested should contact
me for further details about registration, accommodation,
transportation, etc. Speakers at the conference are going to receive
free accommodation, free transportation, free food, security, etc at
Abuja during the conference and at the end they shall receive some
moratorium awards.
Please make your contributions, suggestions, etc about these
conferences or any relevant matter that will help move SNEM forward to
achieve our success. Thank you very much.
