Hello, I am currently developing a program, in VB6, well, I developed
it long ago, simply adding the Snarl functionality to it. Would really
like to know, how do i make a progress bar in a notification.. ?

By having the text any value between "0" and "100" and choosing a style
which supports it :)

Which app do you have where you add Snarl support into...? ;)

:D Its a custom app I made for a Cyber Cafe. Made it last year. But
since the owner is a friend of mine, and i saw how cool snarl is,
so i replaced my own notification system, with Snarl. Even hes loving
it. Am still thinking, what all Apps can I make for Snarl :D.
Also, due to Snarl, i keep getting important notifications at my home
PC, from the cafe. It is really good, must say that. Saves me a
lot of work, and looks way better than I can imagine.

Glad it's doing what you want. Did you manage to get the progress bar
displaying ok?

I did manage to get the progress bar, no problem. However, i found
that you
have to change the theme manually to one of those bar types. But i
mainly
needed the snarl to show text information, so i reverted back to the
text
styles. Sometimes, it does become sluggish, don't know why. I am using
API to display the messages.

Yes - this comes mainly from the concept that the user and not the
sending app shall decide which style and scheme shall be used.

We had previouly a discussion where we thought about some special type
of text like "78||Some text telling it is 78%" which would render as
percentage if the style supports it and otherwise show the text.

I think we didn't come to a final conclusion until now - so let's
discuss it again :)

What I did in FireSnarl is defining an own alert class for my percentage
values and another for the text version.

But, what if another app that uses snarl wants to display text-only
notifications ? I suppose, we can make it such that, if the progress
bar style is available in the scheme, API should be allowed to use it,
like as you said, only for a specific request. Btw, is snarl written
in
VB ?

In this case the notification wouldn't start with a number followed by
|| so Snarl would know it's only text.

And yes, Snarl is written in VB6 :)

If its VB6, then i can certainly help. Any idea where i can get the
code ?

The sourcecode of Snarl (and the used Melon-Framework from the same
developer) is available on sourceforge.net.

But Chris is not the best friend of updating his code there frequently
so the code is quite outdated there. Let's see if he will response and
make the newest code available :)
