The purpose of this thread is to discuss the Beta 1 version of this
sheet.

Presently, the sheet is almost finished. I am in the process of adding
class-based features that apply 100 percent of the time (such as the
bard's Bardic Knowledge ability, the barbarian's Fast Movement and so
on). I was working on the fighter's Armor Training ability when I
decided to go ahead and post this file as a BETA version.

I also need to finish writing the FAQ/ReadMe tab, which I am still
writing in Word, then will paste into the template. But for now, here
are some basics:

For users sticking to the rules found in the Pathfinder RPG core
rulebook, this sheet should handle most calculations for you
(including saves, BAB, ability score modifiers, skill check modifiers,
weapon attack and damage modifiers and so on). For users skilled with
Excel, it also should be easy for you to customize the application by
adding your own races, classes, house rules and so on. (A section on
how to modify the sheet will be added to the FAQ.)

The first thing you need to keep in mind is that this file is an Excel
template. If you double-click on the file to open it (rather than
using File, Open from within Excel), you shouldn't have to worry about
overwriting the template when you save it. Excel should prompt you to
save the file as an Excel workbook.

To help make sure this happens and you don't overwrite the template,
the best practice is to save your character as soon as you open the
template. Once that's done, you can just click Save to record your
data and won't be using the template. When you want to edit your
character in the future, just double-click this new file rather than
the template.

To create your character, just click on the cell you want to edit and
type in the information. If for some reason you need to put more than
one line in the same block, use Alt+Enter.

Start by entering your class, level, race and ability scores. Once you
start adding this information, a lot of the other boxes should
calculate automatically.

The spreadsheet presently is unlocked to make it easier for you to
move around. However, this also means you can overwrite formulas if
you are not careful. The final version of the sheet will be locked to
prevent this from happening, and users will be able to unlock the
sheet from the menu bar without a password.

I have tried to include all racial, class and other modifiers that
apply 100 percent of the time. For example, the +2 bonus to Perception
that several races get via the Keen Senses ability and the Halfling's
+1 luck bonus to all saves are applied. But the Dwarf's +2 bonus to
Perception to notice unusual stonework (Stonecunning) is not because
it applies only to a narrow category of Perception checks.

Boxes used to store miscellaneous modifiers (skill checks and saves)
have been commented to state exactly what modifiers have been
included. Boxes with comments have a red triangle in the upper-right
corner. To see the comment, just hover your mouse over the box.

That's it for now. Enjoy!
