Forgive me if my phrasing sounds overly dramatic but I'm a little curious about the lack of updates. I just discovered this library today and I was honestly amazed by the potential of Snap.. but as I was cloning from the Git repo I noticed that there has not been a single change for about 7 months. What gives? Seems like there's plenty of people using this library so it must be fairly stable, but I can't help but feel that the original devs have moved on to a different project.

I haven't seen Dmitry post on here for a while. I wonder if you would have more success on Github or Twitter trying to contact him.

I'd like to know this too.

Actually, I don't care if its "dead" or not, as long as its ready for production and its features are sufficiently complete.

Is it better to stay with snap or go back to raphael?

I share the curiosity. However i do care if its dead or alive.

I'd summarise my experience to date with svg and svg+snap as "Here be dragons", and there is a lot that can be done ...

There are a number of know bugs i'd like to see addressed in snap. Beeing aware that this is voluntary work far is it from
me to "demand" anything in this from whatever contributer.

That does not mean however i would appreciate some "token of life" and statement ( @DmitryBaranovskiy ) on intentions
and future for snap.

Looking into github it can be seen that @DmitryBaranovskiy is still involved with svg
adobe-research/svgObjectModelGenerator ( just not snap )

I tend to think its as dead or alive as the people that use it, and help etc. There's often an issue if there is just one active developer, real life other stuff crops up and work gets in the way :).

I don't tend to go along with use Raphael rather than Snap because something is or isn't being actively developed. I think if someone needs old browser support, Raphael is the one to use. If one needs more later features, importing SVGs, support of Group elements etc, then Snap is the one. Its the same author. Use either depending on which strength is needed.

Are there any show stopping bugs that folk are aware of ? I'm just wondering if there could be easy workarounds for them, but I'm not aware of any in particular.

What would people want added to Snap if it was being actively developed ?

Show-stoppers are relative to whom is using sanp and for what,
for me at this moment my issues as reported with animation are showstopper,
other people have other wishes as can be seen here and in the git repo.

And i'm sure new issues will arise as i progress with using snap

Naturally a show stopper for a person can be anything, but really I mean something thats fundamentally broken or an obstacle thats a reason for others as well not to use it I guess (ie maybe we can have a bash at fixing them).

Most of the examples I look at on stackoverflow and github for example aren't normally bugs with Snap, but people thinking in a different way to SVG (perfectly natural, and makes sense). So I find it hard to filter through to see which ones are bugs as opposed to design/understanding.

There's certainly some things that can be improved (would love to see some extra text support like Raphael used to have).

We can make snapsvg works through us - the volunteers

Everyone can help on fixing and enhancing the bugs and features

Improving the usability of Snapsvg so that we can awake snapsvg society.

If you really think snapsvg is dying or alive, we should thinking of how to let it become more powerful!

Sorry for bringing up old discussions. Are there any news about snapsvg roadmap or development?

Just looking through many SVG framework like Vivus, Svgjs, and Snap SVG and this framework amaze me.

Unfortunately when we see the github, last updates was about 10 months ago. Thinking twice now whether snap svg is a correct framework?
