14th Feb 2011: Do not buy Petrol

Dear Friends!

Petrol in:-
 Pakistan Rs 17 per  litre
 Malaysia Rs 18 per  litre
 India    Rs 65 per  litre

Why is there a difference within India itself? World Market CRUDE OIL is not.

The reason for this. It's all Gain for private owners? As we are the general public, or Common Man as RK Laxman wud hv said, we have to raise our voice, let's raise thru E - mails.

Forward this to all Indians who care.

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF PETROL FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS
OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES. THEREFORE
"Feb.14 th" HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF PETROL THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS
MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT. WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF PETROL GOING UP BUT
AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES,
TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH AFFECTS
PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING,BUILDING SUPPLIES MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE
DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR
CALENDARS AND OBSERVE 'Feb.14th'
AS NO PETROL DAY.

A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS SAY
"ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

We forward so many junk email to many of our friends, now let us do it for some useful cause to cut down the price of the petrol .. ....

REMEMBER 14FEB2011
NO PETROL DAY

Friends,

Don't Buy and let us flood the storage ! Govt would stuggle, not knowing how to burn !!!

Sandeep

Dear Ashwini,

14th Feb is Valentines day and not NO PETOL DAY!!!
There is some wrong info on this mail which is being circulated.

Firstly, the mention of the prices of petrol in Pak

Please find the rates in Pak below:

Current Petroleum Prices In Pakistan
Diesel 78.33 Rs./Litre
Petrol 72.96 Rs./Litre
HOBC   86.67 Rs./Litre
E10    70.46 Rs./Litre
(Validated from News article: http://www.newsatweb.com/2011/02/02/today-petrol-price-in-pakistan-petroleum-prices-in-pakistan-current-petrol-price-in-pakistan/  where even pak citizens are angry with the government on this whole issue.)

They have adopted a system of price correction every 15 days, to adjust to the International Prices.  Thats worse than India where price correction is regulated to once a month, If am not wrong.

Well, though there are profits for distributing parties in the supply chain - as noone will do charity with such a large volume business.. it becomes huge profits at the point of adulteration where out of the 3 chambers of 4000 lts. each of the tanker in which 12000 lts. of petrol is transported, one of the chambers is emptied and filled with Naptha and pigment, earlier it was being filled with SPG or SP10 or something which government later revised the price and made it at par with petrol.  Some rackets fill one chamber, others more than 1 chamber.  So we normally choose bunks which give max mileage for the petrol based on this ;).  More money was being made in the oil business where 2T oil was being manufactured by collecting the waste oil from garages, and redistilling it with some chemicals.

Who is to blame:
To get the license and clearances for a petrol bunk, more than a crore has to be paid as bribe from top right to the bottom, even to the local constable.  This is apart from the regular capital costs involved.  With 10 or 15 paise margin per liter, in which year will they break even, recover the costs and become profitable.  They have no other choice but to do this, else the system of bribery needs to go.  Both of this wouldn't happen.  So no amount of NO  PETROL DAY or anything of that nature will practically work.  Esp in the Indian context.

As far as the national policy of government is concerned, I say even the prices of diesel and LPG needs to be completely derregulated. Separate diesel bunks should be setup which fuel only Trucks.

Think,
Why should government pay Rs 1000 subsidy on LPG to a household that earns more than 50,000 a month? who spends 1000Rs for a meal, when they freak out into any modern restaurants?
Why should the government pay Rs 25 subsidy for every litre of diesel put into their luxury cars which give a mileage not more than 7 or 8 kms per ltr for them to go on a long drive or a vaccation?

Now see where it is recovered
All NHAI projects are now on BOT model, where government marks the stretch, and private bidders have to pay to the government and take the stretch on a long lease of say 25, 50 or 100 years and lay 4 or 8 lane roads with a toll booth.  Here government doesn't incur a single penny in expense rather gets taxes and other types of income from the project and every single person travelling on these roads for the next 100 years have to pay the toll.... direct effect of OIL subsidies.  This is how the government recovers the amount required to subsidize OIL and pay for our usage of these!!!

Let me cut things short...
Government should be there to Govern and not do either Business or Charity.
Charity is a government action towards the needy..... who cannot live on his own.
For those who can earn, please work hard to take the country forward......
not to make government poor (by demanding subsidies) and our bank balance sound, because ultimately if we force the government poor, they will recover it from us and next 10 generations of ours.

Irrespective of parties, any state or central government across the world will take these lines only.

Regards,
Rijo Stephen Cletus
