High folks,  I’ve had my iPhone 8 for over a year now and found many many differences from my iPhone 5 that I didn’t like with the way it connects with my Apple Watch 2 but have come to live with it.
This big problem is with Wi-Fi, on many occasions on entering a web address the phone does nothing with the wee wheel spinning until eventually I receive the message, “Safari cannot open the page because your iPhone is not connected to the internet.” Now all I have to to do is select the reload circular arrow and the page is there but it’s a long time to wait. If I switch of Mobile Data that fixes it or if I switch of Wi-Fi and use Data that fixes it. I shouldn’t have to do either of these fixes the phone should just pick Wi-Fi, or is there something ease I need in settings.

It might sound daft but have you restarted it recently?

Hi Jason, yes restarted many times. I have spoken to BT, EE and of course Apple, I have taken it to Apple store in Aberdeen whom took it and updated it with software not currently available and watched it actually not working and we’re happy to switch of data if Wi-Fi was being used. Favourite line from Apple is “it’s working within parameters”.
I was hoping someone other than my Daughter would have the same problem interestingly my shiny new iPad Air works perfectly at twice the speed.

Problem resolved. I have a BT model 6 router which allows the output frequencies to be split. 2.4GHz - perfect for when you're a few rooms away from your Hub - 2.4GHz will give you the best coverage around your home

5GHz - best for when you're in the same room or one room away from your Hub - 5GHz will give you the fastest speed.

I followed the instructions here
