iCal Desktop - how to view diary clashes

Seems to me that there's a view problem in iCal.

If I have several things listed in for around the same time, with some overlaps, they're all merged into a big blue blob and so hard to read without clicking and editing the view.

Am I missing something?

I list all the clashes, so I know all that's going on, even if I can only be in one place at the same time!

Anyone found a way round?
