Pages Annotation

I think you can still do this. You need the ‘Annotate’ tool, just to the left of the colour selector, and then click the tool again to get choice of ‘pen’ or ‘annotate’ and the thickness you want to use. No boxes required!

I’m using iPadOS 15 and latest version of Pages on an old test document.
