Hi All
I have an old (Late 2006) 2ghz 17 inch iMac with 2x 512mb ram installed. I want to add more ram. From what I have read the limit that it will recognise is 3gb.

My question is, would it be better to buy either:

a) 1x 1gb stick and 1x 2gb stick.

or

b) a pair of 2gb sticks.

Mark

add 1x 1gb stick and 1x 2gb stick from experience when 2 x 2gb is recognised as 3gb in total it gives no advantage

Hi Mark

a 1GB and a 2GB stick usually works best. The iMac should only recognise the first 1GB of a second 2GB stick but I've seen it cause problems in the past.

Agree with Sam (usually wise to!)

It works best to keep it at the advised amount...
