I'm thinking of buying a new Mac Mini M1 but am a bit confused by the monitor options. I'll be using it for Logic mainly - so no gaming or movies or video editing - and would like to get the kind of quality I see on friends' retina display iMacs if that makes sense.

On my current Mac Mini I'm using an Acer 27" monitor (Maximum Resolution. (Full HD)1920 x 1080@75 Hz) and I'd like it to be better than that.

Any advice appreciated.

27” at 1080p resolution, that close to your face, will be a bit fuzzy. I’d go for a QHD or 4k resolution display, ideally one with DisplayPort or USB-C input as it’ll be easy to connect to the macmini. HDMI should fine as well though, I have a 30” Dell display connected via HDMI at 4k resolution and 60hz, it’s very comfortable for reading text etc.

Dell make great displays, as do Samsung. Avoid BenQ as they’re very much the lower budget option

Thanks Sam. Funnily enough I'm using a BenQ 21" to type this. Bought 10 years ago for £99.00. Been a really good buy!
