Afternoon All,

I’m trying to recover my loyal old broken 2010 MacBook by starting it up and re-installing its system from an external drive. I’ve created a High Sierra boot drive from the instructions here (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201372) and things look promising as it starts the process of installing a system on the internal drive (SSD). But each time it gets to “about 2 minutes" of finishing I get the attached screenshot. I’ve tried two different install drives and the MacBook internal drive appears to be fine (as far as Disk Utility is concerned). Is the MacBook toast do we think?

Phil

Before you install, open Terminal from the Utilities menu while booted up from the installer. Type in

date 0101120014

Push return then try the installer again

I was really hoping that would do the trick Sam ‘cause I’d read about it elsewhere.

No change though sadly. I still get the same error message.

I have a USB installer which works, happy to give it a try if you want to drop off?

Thanks Sam.

I think that’s probably the only option now. I’ll message you to arrange something.

Cheers
Phil
