Gmail issues

I am using ‘Big Sur’ the other day on mail I was asked to input the password, it would not accept the password, I deleted my Gmail and intended to reinstall my Gmail a/c.

 

However when I go to set up my Gmail on ‘ Add account’ and tick the google box and press ‘continue’ the box appears and the sign just goes around and around nothing happens, but Safari freezes!

 

Any assistance would be welcomed.

I have fixed this.

I had set Chrome as my default browser, when I changed to Safari as default, problem gone.

Solution by trial & error.
